«In un mondo sempre più globalizzato nel quale alimenti, prodotti e perfino idee tendono ad essere conformati, la diversità è troppe volte vista come un ostacolo, un’incongruenza da appianare. Eppure, disseminate per il globo, esistono ancora tante comunità, oltre cinquemila, che resistono a questo appiattimento culturale e che perpetuano tradizioni e stili di vita antichi, con caratteristiche sociali, culturali, economiche e politiche distinte da quelle delle società dominanti in cui vivono. Proprio per celebrare la meravigliosa diversità antropologica del nostro pianeta il 9 agosto si festeggia la Giornata mondiale dei popoli indigeni, proclamata dall’assemblea generale delle Nazioni Unite nel dicembre 1994» (Lifegate, 9 agosto).

Il 10 agosto a Parma è morto Fr. Mario Passuello. Il funerale è stato celebrato nel santuario di S. Guido, il giorno 13. La salma è stata tumulata alla Villetta di Parma.

INDIGENOUS PEOPLES DAY
«In an increasingly globalized world, in which food, products and even ideas tend to conformity, diversity is too often seen as an obstacle and an incongruity to be smoothed out. And yet, scattered around the world, there are still many communities who resist this phenomenon and who carry on with ancient traditions and lifestyles, with social, cultural, financial and political characteristics that differ from those that dominate the societies in which they are living. In order to celebrate the wonderful anthropological diversity of our planet, in December 1994, the General Assembly of the United Nations proclaimed 9 August as the World Day of the indigenous peoples» (Lifegate, 9 August).

10 Aug: Br. Mario Passuello died in Parma. His funeral was celebrated in the Conforti Sanctuary on 13 August, followed by burial in the Villetta cemetery, Parma.
