P. GIUSEPPE CARETTA (1934-2017)
Il 27 giugno 2017, verso le sei del mattino, nella Casa Madre di Parma, è morto il P. Giuseppe Caretta. Aveva 82 anni compiuti.
- Caretta era nato a Monte di Malo (Vicenza – Italia) il 29 dicembre 1934.
Entrò nell'Istituto Saveriano a Vicenza il 12 settembre 1946 (dove frequentò la media inferiore) per poi passare a Zelarino (ginnasio).
Dopo un anno di noviziato, emise la Prima Professione a S. Pietro in Vincoli il 12.9.1952 e continuò con la consueta formazione di base (Liceo a Desio, Prefettato a Nizza Monferrato, Teologia a Piacenza e a Parma)
Fu ordinato Presbitero a Parma il 25 ottobre 1959.
Alla fine della Teologia fu inviato in Giappone: studiò per due anni il giapponese a Kobe. Fu poi viceparroco a Kanoya, quindi a Saito e infine parroco a Takanabe.
Nel 1968 rientrò in Italia e fu destinato a Udine dove lavorò nel ministero, nell’animazione vocazionale e nell’insegnamento).
Nel 1983 fu assegnato alla casa di Desio dove si dedicò al ministero.
Nel 1988 venne trasferito a Tavernerio. Qui si rese sempre disponibile nel servizio pastorale nelle parrocchie e nelle Case di cura, nella direzione spirituale; attento ai bisogni della comunità e delle persone bisognose, aperto per l’accoglienza, molto dedito alla cura del giardino e dell’orto.
Un grande amore della sua vita era la musica: quante energie messe nel dirigere e animare le corali!
Padre Caretta continuò queste sue attività nonostante l’insorgere di vari acciacchi. In una lettera del 2004 al Superiore Generale, p. Giuseppe scriveva “Sento che faccio più fatica ad accettare impegni come nel passato, ma per quel che posso non mi tiro indietro: finché Dio vuole. Mi sforzerò di dare una mano perché la nostra Comunità possa raggiungere tutti i suoi scopi pastorali e missionari”.
Nel marzo del 2010, in seguito ad un incidente stradale, fu ricoverato in ospedale in gravi condizioni dalle quali ne uscì miracolosamente anche grazie alla Novena di preghiere al Fondatore dei Saveriani.
Agli inizi del mese di giugno 2017, a causa dell’aggravarsi delle sue condizioni di salute, padre Giuseppe fu trasferito nella Casa Madre a Parma. Qui, il 27 giugno, padre Giuseppe fu condotto dagli Angeli in Paradiso per partecipare al grande Coro Celeste.

GIUSEPPE CARETTA (1934-2017)
Fr. Giuseppe Caretta died on 27 June 2017, in the Mother House, Parma; born in Monte di Malo (Vicenza – Italy), on 29 December 1934, he was 82 years old.
He joined the Institute in Vicenza on 12 September 1946, where he attended junior high school; he then moved to Zelarino, where he attended senior high school.
After one year of Novitiate, he made his First Profession in S. Pietro in Vincoli on 12 September 1952 and continued with the initial formation program (Lyceum in Desio, Prefect in Nizza Monferrato, Theology in Piacenza and Parma)
He was ordained priest in Parma on 25 October 1959.
At the end of Theology he was assigned to Japan: he studied Japanese for two years in Kobe and then served as assistant priest Saito and parish priest in Takanabe.
In 1968 he returned to Italy and was assigned to Udine, where he worked in the pastoral ministry, vocation animation and teaching.
In 1983 he was assigned to the community of Desio, where he worked in the pastoral ministry.
In 1988 he was transferred to Tavernerio, where he carried out his pastoral service in parishes, nursing homes and in spiritual direction; he was sensitive to the needs of the community and needy individuals, the service of hospitality and took care of the garden and the vegetable garden.
Music was the great love of his life and he dedicated himself to the direction and animation of choirs!
Fr. Caretta continued with these activities even when he was afflicted by various ailments. In 2004 he wrote to the Superior General: “I am finding it more difficult to accept tasks I took on in the past, but I will continue to do as much as I can for as long as God wants. I will do my best to help our community to fulfill all its pastoral and missionary goals”.
In March 2010, he was taken to hospital with serious injuries after suffering a road accident: he made a miraculous recovery thanks also to the Novena of prayers offered to the Founder of the Xaverians.
His health took a turn for the worse at the beginning of June 2017 and he was transferred to the Mother House, where he died on 27 June.
