La domenica di Pasqua abbiamo inaugurato la loggia nella grande sala multiuso della cappellania. Abbiamo, così, 200 posti in più per accogliere le persone. La spesa è stata sostenuta dalla gente del posto e il resto dalle offerte di molti amici d’Italia, in particolare di Desio” (Corrispondenza di P. G. Dovigo).
COLOMBIA
A Buenaventura dall’1 al 3 Maggio si é realizzato V Congresso Nazionale delle Fraternità di San Guido Maria Conforti. Han partecipato circa 160 laici delle varie Fraternità, quasi tutti i confratelli e i nostri seminaristi. Abbiamo celebrato i 40 anni di presenza saveriana in Colombia e delineato le prospettive per le Fraternità.
ITALIA
Si sono svolti a Brescia il Seminario: Il futuro è del meticciato? In dialogo con Virgil Elizondo
(7-8 maggio) e il Convegno Missione oggi 2015: Siamo tutti meticci? Le religioni nella diaspora postmoderna (9 maggio). Scopo dei due eventi, organizzati da Missione oggi e Cem Mondialità, far conoscere e approfondire la nozione di “meticciato” nella sua applicazione al cristianesimo e all’attività di evangelizza-zione.
BRASILE NORD
Sorprese positive nell’annuale celebrazione della Settimana degli Indio. “È un fatto speciale, inedito: per la prima volta un’amministrazione comunale (comune di Redenção – PA) si è impegnata con tanto interesse e sforzo per dare il giusto valore alla popolazione indigena (kayapó) del suo territorio (P. R. Trevisan).
Anche a Belém, il 19 aprile, nell’incontro con una ventina di kayapó, alla fine dello spettacolo teatrale gli organizzatori dell’evento hanno avuto una idea geniale: “hanno invitato i bambini “bianchi” a danzare insieme ai loro coetanei kayapó. Ci fu un momento di indecisione poi in un attimo lo spazio aperto dagli spettatori si riempì di bambini e bambine. Non fu facile ai ballerini aggiustare i passi. Ma alla fine gli adulti con i loro applausi di incoraggiamento e i bambini con la loro gioiosa spontaneità finirono per dare un’idea di come sarebbe bella la società brasiliana se tutti entrassero nella danza della vita, com le stesse disposizioni” (P. SIERRA LEONE
“Con l’Ebola non siamo ancora fuori del tutto. Quasi ogni giorno ci sono uno o due casi soprattutto a Freetown e nel distretto di Kambia. Qui nel distretto di Makeni sono già trascorsi i 42 giorni necessari per dichiarare la zona libera da Ebola. Si sta anche parlando di permettere di nuovo ai familiari di seppellire i loro morti, ma per il momento tutto continua con le solite restrizioni e controlli anche sulle strade” (P. Carlo Di Sopra).

Currently, the Xaverians are 719 in number: 2 Bishops, 598 Priests, 26 Perpetually Professed Brothers and 93 Students. In 2014 there were 27 First Professions, 6 Final Professions, 13 Ordinations to the Priesthood, 17 Deaths and 21 Defections. The latest professed confrere is No. 2446.
DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC OF CONGO
Bukavu: Fr. G. Dovigo writes: “I was moved by the huge participation on Easter Sunday, the long queue of young people at communion, the enthusiasm of the choir and the involvement in the groups … The people have a profound religious spirit and sense of the sacred, they are keenly aware of God’s presence and the importance of the family, which they respect.
On Easter Sunday, we inaugurated the loggia in the large multi-purpose hall of the chaplaincy. We can now welcome 200 extra people. The initiative was financed by the local people and by offerings we received from many friends in Italy, especially from Desio”.
COLOMBIA
Buenaventura, 1-3 May: 160 lay people and almost all the confreres and our seminarians took part in the 5th National Meeting of the Fraternity of St. Guido Maria Conforti. We celebrated the 40 years of Xaverian presence in the country and outlined the prospects of the Fraternities.

7-8 May: Brescia hosted a Seminar on: Il futuro è del meticciato? In dialogo con Virgil Elizondo
9 May: Brescia also played host to the Convegno Missione Oggi 2015 on the topic: Siamo tutti meticci? Le religioni nella diaspora postmoderna (9 maggio). The purpose of the two events, which were organized by Missione oggi and Cem Mondialità, was to make known and deepen the notion of “meticciato” in its application to Christianity and evangelization.
NORTH BRAZIL
Commenting on the annual celebration of the Week of Indigenous Peoples, Fr. R. Trevisan writes: “In what was a special and unprecedented gesture, for the first time a municipal administration (Redenção – PA) made a great effort to acknowledge the value of the indigenous people (kayapó) of its territory”.
Belém, 19 Apr: during a meeting with twenty kayapó, the organizers of the event had a brilliant idea at the end of the theatrical presentation: “they invited the “white” children to dance with their kayapó peers. After an initial moment of uncertainty, the space cleared by the spectators was filled by boys and girls. It was not easy for the dancers to adjust their steps. But the encouraging applause of the adults, and the joyful spontaneity of the children, showed how beautiful Brazilian society would be if all took part in the dance of life with the same disposition” (Fr. S. Corinaldesi).
SIERRA LEONE
Fr. Carlo Di Sopra writes: “We are still not entirely out of the Ebola crisis. Almost every day there are one or two new cases, especially in Freetown and the district of Kambia. Here, in the district of Makeni, the 42 days necessary for declaring the area free of Ebola have already passed. It is said that people may soon be allowed to bury their dead, but for the moment everything continues with the usual restrictions and road blocks”.
