Quest’oggi, nella tarda mattinata è morto nell’ospedale di Abaetetuba il nostro confratello P. Dante Mainini. Aveva compiuto 99 anni, essendo nato, a S. Ilario D’Enza, RE (Italia), il giorno 01.10.1918.

Era entrato in Istituto a S. Pietro in Vincoli nell’agosto del 1938, iniziando il mese successivo l’anno di noviziato. Emessa la Prima Professione il 12.09.1939, inizia subito a Parma gli studi di Teologia. Dal 1940 al 1941 svolge il servizio di prefetto nella casa di Grumone, e dal 1941 al 1944 continua gli studi di Teologia a Parma.

Ordinato Presbitero a Parma, il 28.05.1944, viene inviato a Grumone come insegnante dove rimane fino al luglio del 1945, trascorrendo successivamente alcuni mesi a Castel Sidoli come propagandista. Da dicembre del 1945 fino a settembre del 1949, si trova a Roma dove compie i suoi studi di Diritto Canonico e Civile all’Università Lateranense, ottenendo la Licenza in Diritto Canonico.

Vice Rettore nella comunità della Teologia di Piacenza (1949-1953) e insegnante (1949-1957), nel Capitolo Generale del 1956 viene eletto Consigliere Generale fino al 1971. È Rettore dello studentato di Parma, prima dal 1957 al 1958 e poi dal 1961 al 1967. Delegato Generale per gli studenti e noviziati in Italia dal 1967 al 1970, è poi Rettore del Collegio internazionale a Roma dal 1970 al 1971.

Partito per il Brasile Nord nell’agosto del 1972, diventa parroco della Cattedrale di Abaetetuba (1973-1978, e 1980-1997), poi Vicario Generale della Diocesi ( 1979-1995 e 1998-2000), e Rettore del Seminario Minore Diocseano di Abaetetuba dal 1997 al 1999.

Dal 2000 si trovava nella Casa Xaveriana Dom João Gazza, svolgendo dapprima il ruolo di Vice parroco, e poi in cura dal 2016.

Fr. Dante Mainini died on 18 April 2018 in the hospital of Abaetetuba (Brazil). Born in S. Ilario D’Enza, RE (Italy), on 1 October 1918, he was 99 years old.

He joined the Institute in S. Pietro in Vincoli in August 1938, and began novitiate the following month. After making his First Profession on 12 September 1939, he immediately began his Theology studies in Parma. In the year 1940-41 he served as prefect in the house of Grumone and from 1941-44 he continued his Theology studies in Parma.

After his ordination to the priesthood in Parma, on 28 May 1944, he was assigned to Grumone to teach; he remained there until July 1945, then spent some months in Castel Sidoli in the propaganda sector. From December 1945 until September 1949, he studied Canon Law and Civil Law in Rome, at the Lateran University, where he obtained a Masters in Canon Law.

He also served as vice-rector in the Theology community of Piacenza (1949-1953) and teacher (1949-1957); at the General Chapter of 1956 he was elected General Council and remained in that post until 1971. He served as Rector of the Theology community in Parma: a first period from 1957 until 1958 and then from 1961 until 1967. From 1967 until 1970 he was General Delegate for the students and novitiates in Italy, then rector of the Collegio Conforti in Rome from 1970 until 1971.

He left for North Brazil in August 1972 and became parish priest of the Cathedral of Abaetetuba (1973-1978 and 1980-1997), then Vicar General of the Diocese ( 1979-1995 and 1998-2000) and Rector of the Minor Seminary of Abaetetuba from 1997 until 1999.

From 2000 he resided in the Casa Xaveriana Dom João Gazza, where he first served as assistant priest and, finally, from 2016 until his death he was in nursing care.
