Martedì 19 marzo si è tenuto alla Domus di Bukavu il VI Forum culturale sul tema: “Chef, chi sei? L’autorità nella tradizione dei Bashi, nella cultura moderna e nell’esempio di Papa Francesco”.

Donatien Lwiyando ha moderato il Forum e ha presentato alcune opere artistiche scelte nella grande varietà del Museo: la sedia-trono di Omari Pene Misenga, capo supremo del territorio di Pangi e il suo bastone, il cappello di Bami Kindi dell’Urega fatto di squame del pangolino, simboli dell’autorità dei gruppi etnici locali. Il Forum è stato seguito con attenzione da un centinaio di invitati, fra cui Sua Maestà il re Ndatabaye Ngweshe di Walungu, ottantenne e re da oltre 75 anni.

Il Museo del Kivu è stato iniziato (2013) e organizzato da P. Tam Gianandrea, appassionato dell’arte tradizionale del Kivu e dintorni.

On Tuesday, March 19^th – 2019, in the Domus of Bukavu, we held the VI Cultural Forum on the theme: “Chief, who are you? Authority in the tradition of the Bashi, in the modern culture and on the example of Pope Francis”.  Fr. Donatien Lwiyando directed the Forum and presented some artifacts chosen from the great variety of works of our Museum: the chair-throne of Omari Pene Misenga, supreme chief of the Pangi territory and his walking stick, the hat (made of squamas of pangolino) of Bami Kindi of the territory of Urega, all authority symbols of local etnic groups.  The Forum was followed with great interest by over a hundred invited guests, among whom there was His Majesty King Ndatabaye Ngweshe of Walungu, now eighty years old and King for over 75 years. The Kivu Museum was initiated and organized by Fr. Tam Gianandrea, appassionate lover of the traditonal art of the Kivu area and surrounding places.
