Venerdì 16 febbraio 2024, papa Francesco, rivolgendosi alla comunità formativa del Seminario di Napoli, Italia, ha esortato formatori (tra i quali anche due coppie di sposi) e seminaristi ad essere e a lavorare nella Chiesa come “operai di un cantiere sempre aperto…”.
“La formazione non finisce mai, dura tutta la vita, e se si interrompe non si rimane dove si era, ma si torna indietro… La Chiesa è anzitutto un cantiere sempre aperto. Essa, cioè, rimane costantemente in cammino, aperta alla novità dello Spirito, vincendo la tentazione di preservare sé stessa e i propri interessi…Sulla formazione è in atto un processo che comprende nuove domande e nuove acquisizioni: gli itinerari di formazione stanno subendo molte trasformazioni, in ascolto delle sfide che attendono il ministero e richiedono da parte di tutti impegno, passione e sana creatività. Si sperimentano nuove esperienze pastorali e missionarie, con l’intento di favorire il graduale inserimento nella futura vita ministeriale; si ipotizzano tempi di interruzione nel percorso per favorire la maturazione individuale. È bello accogliere e vagliare queste novità, vivendole come opportunità di grazia e di servizio, cogliendovi la presenza di Dio…”
FORMATION: “A BUILDING SITE WHOSE WORK IS ALWAYS ONGOING…”
On Friday, February 16th, 2024, while addressing the community of the Seminary of Naples, Italy, Pope Francis urged formators (that include two married couples) and seminarians to be and work in the Church as “workers of a building site whose work is always ongoing…”
“Formation never ends, it lasts a lifetime, and… if you stop, you do not stay where you were, but go backwards… The Church is first and foremost a building site whose work is always ongoing. That is, she is always on the move, open to the novelty of the Spirit, defeating the temptation to preserve herself and her own interests… A process is underway in… formation that entails new questions and new acquisitions: the itineraries of formation are undergoing many transformations, listening to the challenges that await priestly ministry and require commitment, passion and healthy creativity from everyone. New pastoral and missionary experiences are under experimentation, with the intention of promoting gradual integration in future ministerial life; interruptions in the itinerary are being envisaged to foster individual maturation. It is good to welcome and examine these novelties, living them as opportunities for grace and service, perceiving God's presence in them…”
