Non vi è pensiero più semplice, affettuoso e diretto di augurare Buon Natale ai membri di una comunità che si prende cura delle fragilità di alcuni confratelli e cioè di quello che siamo e facciamo.

Questo augurio viene direttamente da una ventina di missionari anziani e ammalati di diverse patologie, residenti nell’infermeria (o IV Piano) della Casa Madre di Parma. Abbiamo definito questo luogo: “luogo di vita e di cura”. In questo luogo si parte dall’approfondimento della conoscenza attraverso le nostre esperienze missionarie, la disponibilità all’ascolto e soprattutto attraverso la fiducia che riusciamo a conquistare fra di noi e gli altri.

Il personale del IV Piano - composto da un medico, infermieri/e, OSS (Operatori Socio Sanitari), volontari/e e missionari che ci assistono – ci ha insegnato ad esprimerci più apertamente, ascoltare le nostre intimità di pensiero e quindi accoglierle per trasformarle in relazione.

Il IV Piano è anche un luogo di lettura, di dibattiti, di approfondimenti su temi spirituali e della vita quotidiana. Si realizzano attività ludiche, motorie, si celebrano i compleanni, si gioca a tombola e altri giochi. Non manca mai la preghiera per ricordarci che la nostra vita la guida Dio, Padre buono. There is no simpler, more affectionate, and direct thought than wishing a Merry Christmas to the members of ‘a community that takes care of the fragility of some confreres,’ which is what we are and what we do.

This Christmas wish comes directly from twenty or so elderly and variously sick missionaries that reside in the infirmary (or Fourth Floor) of the Mother House in Parma. We call this place “a place of life and healing.” Here, we deepen relations by knowing our missionary experiences, through availability to listen and, above all, through building mutual trust among us and with others.

The staff of the Fourth Floor – made up of a doctor, nurses, social and health workers, volunteers and missionaries that assist us – taught us to express ourselves more openly, listening to the intimacy of our thoughts and to welcome these thoughts so as to transform them into relations.

The Fourth Floor is also a place of readings, debates, deepening of spiritual and daily topics. We carry out recreational and physical activities; we celebrate birthdays, play bingo and other games. There is always prayer to remind us that our life is led by God, the Good Father. Best wishes of a Merry Christmas to the entire Xaverian Family.
