Il vulcano Semeru - che si trova ad est dell'isola di Giava - ha eruttato sabato 4 dicembre 2021 e la nube vulcanica ha raggiunto una distanza di 4 chilometri: 22 persone sono morte, 27 scomparse e 90 ferite gravemente; 1.300 persone sono state evacuate; e 28 le scuole distrutte. La nostra comunità di Yogyakarta si trova a 12 ore di macchina dal vulcano. Non ci sono parenti dei nostri confratelli  saveriani nella città di Lumajang, distretto dove si trova il vulcano. Semeru volcano, located on the eastern part of the island of Java, erupted on Saturday, December 4^th, 2021. The volcanic cloud reached a distance of 4 kilometers; 22 people died, 27 disappeared and 90 have been seriously injured; 1,300 people were evacuated; and 28 schools were destroyed. Our Xaverian community in Yogyakarta is a 12-hour drive from the volcano. There are no relatives of our Xaverian confreres in the city of Lumajang, that is the district where the volcano is located.
