Le recenti piogge torrenziali in Giappone hanno causato non pochi danni, molti sfollati e anche alcuni morti nelle diverse regioni. Soprattutto sono state colpite le due province di Nagasaki e Hiroshima, proprio dove 76 anni fa, nello stesso periodo, le prime bombe atomiche esplosero. I meteorologi giapponesi affermano che la quantità di piogge in questi pochi giorni supera di più di tre volte la quantità di piogge che in media si registra in tutto il mese di agosto.
Ringraziando il Cielo tutti i Saveriani, le parrocchie e le strutture gestite da essi non hanno subito danni, tranne il centro di dialogo “Shinmeizan”, al quale le linee telefoniche fisse e dell’internet sono state interrotte dalle alluvioni. Si prevede che i collegamenti saranno ripristinati in una decina di giorni. Nel frattempo, le comunicazioni col centro sono sempre possibili coi telefoni cellulari. Preghiamo che nei prossimi giorni non si registrino altri danni alle strutture e alla popolazione del Giappone. (Giovanni D’Elia sx)

Recent torrential rains in Japan have caused great damage, many displaced persons and even some deaths in different areas. The provinces of Nagasaki and Hiroshima were particularly hit. These two are the same areas where 76 years ago, at this time, the first atomic bombs exploded. Japanese meteorologists say that the quantity of rain fallen in the last few days exceeds by more than three times the amount of rain that, on average, is recorded throughout the month of August. Thank God, all Xaverians, as well as the parishes and the structures they manage, have suffered no damage. The only exception is the ‘Shinmeizan’ Center for Dialogue whose telephone and internet lines have been interrupted by the floods. It is expected that connections will be restored in about ten days. Meanwhile, communications with the Center are always possible via mobile phones.
