Il confratello Rocco Viviano sx ha partecipato al 56° Incontro Annuale e Assemblea Generale della Zen-to-Kirisutokyo-Kondankai (Associazione per il Dialogo Zen-Cristiano), tenutosi dal 30 agosto al 1° settembre 2022, presso il tempio Senjuji, (tempio principale della Scuola Takada del Buddhismo Shinshu), situato a Tsu, nella Prefettura di Mie (http://www.senjuji.or.jp/en/). Il tema delle conversazioni di quest'anno è stato “Affrontare la sofferenza”. L'associazione fu stabilita nel 1967, su ispirazione del dottor Douglas Steere, fondatore del Comitato Mondiale Quacchero. Inizialmente uno spazio di dialogo tra buddisti zen e cristiani, si è poi estesa includendo membri di altre denominazioni buddiste e dello scintoismo. Finora ne hanno fatto parte due missionari saveriani: p. Franco Sottocornola sx, dal 1990 al 2015, e p. Rocco Viviano sx dal 2016 ad oggi.

Fr. Rocco Viviano s.x attended the 56^th Annual Meeting and General Assembly of the Zen-to-Kirisutokyo-Kondankai (Association for Zen-Christian Dialogue), which was held from 30 August to 1 September 2022, at the Senjuji Temple (the head temple of the Takada School of Shinshu Buddhism), located in Tsu, Mie Prefecture (http://www.senjuji.or.jp/en/). The topic of this year’s conversations was ‘Facing Suffering’. Inspired by Dr Douglas Steere, founder of the Quaker World Committee, the association was established in 1967. Initially a space of dialogue between Zen Buddhists and Christians, its scope has broadened to include members from other Buddhist denominations and from Shinto. So far two Xaverian missionaries have been members: Fr. Franco Sottocornola s.x, from 1990 to 2015, and Fr Rocco Viviano s.x. from 2016 to the present.
