Il punto di partenza dell’editoriale di “Missione Oggi” (Gennaio-Febbraio 2026), firmato dal suo direttore, p. Mario Menin sx è, da una parte l’interesse costante della rivista per la geopolitica, che ha ispirato anche il primo dossier del 2026, Crisi e reinvenzione della democrazia occidentale; dall’altra, l’impegno della stessa a informare e riflettere sulla missione cristiana, sia a partire dal cosiddetto Occidente cristiano, sia dalle Chiese del Sud del mondo. Nel caos geopolitico in cui viviamo, voci allarmate annunciano con preoccupazione la fine dell’Occidente. Se fosse la fine di quell’Occidente che per secoli ha preteso di dominare il pianeta nel nome di una civiltà superiore, cristiana, che spesso serviva da paravento per coprire l’accumulo di potere e ricchezze in poche mani, forse potrebbe essere persino un’opportunità. Così un nuovo ordine mondiale potrebbe mettersi in moto, come ci invita a fare il magistero di papa Leone XIV, dicendo no al Bord of Peace di Trump e sostenendo il ruolo dell’Onu come garante del multilateralismo nell’ora in cui le democrazie occidentali sembrano aver esaurito la loro carica morale ed eretto l’egoismo a politica.
“MISSIONE OGGI” – EDITORIAL: “TOWARDS A NEW WORLD DIS/ORDER?"
The starting point for the editorial in “Missione Oggi” (January–February 2026), written by its editor, Fr. Mario Menin sx, is, on the one hand, the magazine’s constant interest in geopolitics, which also inspired the first dossier of 2026, Crisis and Reinvention of Western Democracy; on the other hand, the magazine's commitment to informing and reflecting on the Christian mission, both from the so-called Christian West and from the Churches of the South of the world. In the geopolitical chaos in which we live, alarmed voices announce with concern the end of the West. If it were the end of that West that for centuries claimed to dominate the planet in the name of a superior, Christian civilisation, which often served as a smokescreen to cover up the accumulation of power and wealth in a few hands, perhaps it could even be an opportunity. Thus, a new world order could be set in motion, as Pope Leo XIV's magisterium invites us to do, saying no to Trump's Board of Peace and supporting the role of the UN as the guarantor of multilateralism at a time when Western democracies seem to have exhausted their moral authority and erected selfishness as policy.
