Non c’è pace per la martoriata provincia mozambicana di Cabo Delgado, la più povera del paese. I guerriglieri jihadisti legati al sedicente “stato islamico” continuano ad attaccare le comunità locali, i villaggi, le città. L’ultima strage è avvenuta il 22 settembre 2025 quando i ribelli legati all’Is hanno attaccato la località portuale di Mocímboa da Praia, uccidendo e decapitando diversi civili. António Juliasse Ferreira Sandramo, vescovo di Pemba, nel corso dell’assemblea plenaria dell’Inter-Regional Meeting of Bishops of Southern Africa (Imbisa) riunita fino al 28 settembre a Manzini, nello eSwatini, ha lanciato un appello: città e villaggi continuano a essere attaccati provocando un aumento del numero dei profughi. Cabo Delgado sembra essere un mondo a parte all’interno del paese. La popolazione sopravvive fuggendo in continuazione da un posto all’altro, non trovando altro che rifugi precari e insicuri.

There is no peace for the tormented Mozambican province of Cabo Delgado, the poorest in the country. Jihadist guerrillas linked to the self-styled ‘Islamic State’ keep attacking local communities, villages and towns. The latest massacre took place on  September 22^nd, 2025 when rebels linked to IS attacked the port town of Mocímboa da Praia, killing and beheading several civilians. Within the country,  Cabo Delgado seems to be a world apart. The population survives by constantly fleeing from one place to another, finding nothing but precarious and unsafe shelters.
