Seguendo l'esempio di Papa Francesco, battistrada e maestro, la parrocchia di San Guido Conforti a Panzi ha accolto circa 800 poveri, anziani, orfani e vedove, inviati dalle Comunità dei quartieri per la festa preparata per loro. Hanno mangiato, cantato e danzato e il sorriso è tornato sui loro volti. Anche Mama Furaha, la più anziana, ha dimenticato il suo bastone e si è messa a danzare da sola. 

Quest'anno questi 800 poveri sono tornati a casa tutti con un sacchetto di riso da consumare a casa. Questo è stato possibile grazie al contributo dei cori parrocchiali che hanno comprato ben 35 sacchi di riso. Qui a Panzi i cori costituiti sono 21: ogni quartiere ha il suo coro, ogni gruppo parrocchiale il proprio coro. Insomma, questo popolo è nato per cantare. Alle 5.30 la mattina sono già in parrocchia per le prove di canto .... tutto a memoria, senza libri di canto.

La loro generosità ci ha impressionati. Sono nati per cantare, è vero, ma anche per aiutare come il buon Samaritano, come ricorda Papa Francesco. (Nicola Colasuonno sx)      

Following the example of Pope Francis, trailblazer and teacher, St Guido Conforti Parish in Panzi gathered about 800 poor – old people, orphans and widows – sent by the Community of neighbourhoods to attend a party organised for them. They lunched, sang and danced, and smiles returned on their faces. Also, Mama Furaha, the oldest among them, forgot about her walking stick and started dancing on her own.

This year, these 800 poor went back to their places, each taking a bag of rice to eat at home. The gift was made possible by the contribution of the parish choirs who bought as much as 35 sacks of rice. Here, in Panzi, the established choirs are 21: every neighbourhood has its own choir, and every parish group its own one. In short, this is a people that was born to sing. At 5:30 in the morning, they are already in the parish for rehearsals; they memorise everything for they do not have song books.

We were impressed by their generosity. Truly, they were born to sing, but also to help others, like the good Samaritan and as Pope Francis reminds us. (Nicola Colasuonno s.x.)
