Nella Solennità di N.S.G.C., Re dell’Universo, 24 novembre 2024, papa Francesco ha firmato una nota di accompagnamento su come deve essere accolto di Documento Finale del Sinodo:

“…Anch’io l’ho approvato e, firmandolo, ne ho disposto la pubblicazione, unendomi al “noi” dell’Assemblea che, attraverso il Documento finale, si rivolge al santo Popolo fedele di Dio…”

“…il Documento finale partecipa del Magistero ordinario del Successore di Pietro e come tale chiedo che venga accolto. Esso rappresenta una forma di esercizio dell’insegnamento autentico del Vescovo di Roma che ha dei tratti di novità ma che in effetti corrisponde a ciò che ho avuto modo di precisare il 17 ottobre 2015, quando ho affermato che la sinodalità è la cornice interpretativa adeguata per comprendere il ministero gerarchico.

Approvando il Documento, il 26 ottobre scorso, ho detto che esso ‘non è strettamente normativo’ e che ‘la sua applicazione avrà bisogno di diverse mediazioni’. Questo non significa che non impegni fin da ora le Chiese a fare scelte coerenti con quanto in esso è indicato. Le Chiese locali e i raggruppamenti di Chiese sono ora chiamati a dare attuazione, nei diversi contesti, alle autorevoli indicazioni contenute nel Documento, attraverso i processi di discernimento e di decisione previsti dal diritto e dal Documento stesso.”

On November 24^th, 2024, Solemnity of Christ the King, Pope Francis signed a memo (nota di accompagnamento) in Italian on the manner in which the Final Document of the Synod should be received:

“I have added my signature to this document, approved its publication, and joined the “we” of the Assembly that through this Final Document addresses God’s holy faithful People.” (…)

“The Final Document is part of the Ordinary Magisterium of Peter’s Successor, and as such I ask that it be received. It represents a form of how the authentic teaching of the Bishop of Rome is exercised, which has novel features but actually corresponds to what I had the opportunity to point out on October 17^th, 2015, when I stated that synodality is the proper interpretive framework for understanding the hierarchical ministry. At the approval of the Document last October 26^th, I said that ‘it is not strictly normative’ and that ‘its application will need several mediations.’ This is not to say that it does not commit the churches, as of now, to make choices consistent with what is stated in it. Local churches and groupings of churches are now called upon to implement, in their various contexts, the authoritative indications contained in the Document, through the processes of discernment and decision-making provided by law and the Document itself.”
