Nel fine settimana del 17 e 18 maggio 2025, come Consiglio del Laicato Saveriano ci siamo riuniti nella Casa della Direzione Generale a Roma. È stato l’ultimo incontro di questo Consiglio che si avvia verso la fine del mandato con le elezioni nel mese di agosto. 

La scelta di riunirci a Roma non è stata casuale ma voluta, proprio per poterci incontrare con la Direzione Generale, salutarci e condividere il cammino fatto in questi anni. Nel corso dell’incontro con p. Fernando García Rodríguez e tutta la Direzione, abbiamo voluto sottolineare l’importanza di far parte della famiglia carismatica, che ci permette, pur nella diversità delle esperienze e delle scelte vocazionali, di sentirci uniti e di sognare cammini di missione insieme. Abbiamo ricordato Franca Rivolta e Patrick Biswas in questo momento in Bangladesh e l’avvio della presenza in Marocco.

Abbiamo ricordato quanto in questi anni sia stato significativo il percorso portato avanti insieme sul Laicato internazionale, tanto che nell’incontro abbiamo espresso la disponibilità e la volontà nel voler proseguire, approfondendo e conoscendo le realtà laicali degli altri Paesi.

Il Consiglio ha poi “lavorato” sull’organizzazione della consueta convivenza estiva, che ci vedrà come famiglia, riunirci nel mese di agosto a Velletri per momenti di formazione, preghiera e assemblee organizzative e come pellegrini “faremo nostro” ogni giorno un segno distintivo di questo Giubileo.

Over the weekend of May 17^th’18^th, 2025, we, the Council of the Xaverian Laity, gathered at the House of the General Direction in Rome. This was the last meeting of this Council which is about the end its term with the next elections in August.

The choice to gather in Rome was not casual, but had the purpose to meet with the General Direction, to greet each other and share the journey done in the last years. In the course of the meeting with Fernando García Rodríguez and his general council, we stressed the importance of being part of the charismatic family for it allows us to feel united in dreaming common missionary experiences despite the diversity of our backgrounds and vocational choices. We remembered Franca and Patrick, who are now in Bangladesh, and the start of the initiative in Morocco.

We recalled how important the journey made together with the International Laity has been in the last years. In fact, we affirmed our willingness and availability to continue by deepening our knowledge of the laity in other countries.

The Council then dedicated time to the organisation of the traditional summer camp in August, during which we will gather as a family in Velletri to share moments of formation, and prayer, to meet in organisational assemblies, while, as pilgrims, we will focus every day on a distinctive sign of this Jubilee year.

We thank the entire community in Rome for their welcome and the attention they have always lavished on us over the years: it is a living experience of being family and being Church on the road. (Serena Rolandi, Council of the Xaverian Laity)
