«Il 2 luglio, che ricorda momenti particolarmente significativi nella storia della Congregazione e nella vita dei nostri Fondatori, è per noi festa di famiglia. Ogni comunità vive questo giorno in letizia e fraternità, nel ricordo e nella gratitudine a Dio per i doni concessi alla Congregazione e nella preghiera per tutte le sorelle» (Costituzioni delle Missionarie di Maria – Saveriane,  n. 36.3).

Per noi, Missionarie di Maria, il 2 luglio è la festa del Magnificat, vissuta sulle note del cantico della Vergine della Visitazione, nella memoria grata di eventi coincidenti con la festa che, prima della riforma liturgica del Concilio Vaticano II, ricorreva in questa data. Inoltre, il 2 luglio 1944 fu un giorno che le circostanze della guerra allora in corso e la Provvidenza fissarono nella memoria dei nostri fondatori, p. Giacomo Spagnolo e la Ven. madre Celestina Bottego, al punto che questo venne scelto come giorno delle Professioni Religiose.

La nostra comunità a Roma ha reso grazie al Signore per quanto ha operato nel corso degli ottanta anni di vita della nostra Famiglia, per le sorelle che festeggiano anniversari significativi di professione religiosa, in particolare per la nostra sorella Rita Davoli che ha celebrato cinquanta anni di professione nella Casa Madre di Parma, insieme con le sorelle del suo anno di professione.

Abbiamo rinnovato il desiderio di consegnarci, come Maria, in piena adesione di fede, alla Misericordia del Signore, perché Lui possa operare in noi, piccoli e indegni, ma tanto desiderati e desiderosi strumenti della sua Onnipotenza, come ci scriveva padre Giacomo Spagnolo. L’anima nostra magnifica il Signore. Riconosciamo che sua è la missione e sue siamo noi, deboli e amati suoi strumenti. (Fernanda Tettamanzi  mmx)

“July 2^nd reminds us of moments that are particularly meaningful in the history of our Congregation and in the life of our Founders; this is a day of family feast. Every community shall live this day joyfully and in fraternity, in memory of and gratitude to God for the gifts bestowed on our Congregation, and in prayer for all the sisters.” (Constitutions of the MMX, n. 36.3)

For us, Missionaries of Mary, July 2^nd is the Feast of the Magnificat, for we live this day to the tune of the Virgin of Visitation’s song, in grateful memory of events that coincided with the feast which used to mark this date before the liturgical reform of II Vatican Council.  

Moreover, because of the events of the then-raging war and because of Providence, July 2^nd 1944 was a day engraved in the memory of our founders Fr. Giacomo Spagnolo and the Ven. Mother Celestina Bottego, so much so that it was selected as the date of Religious Professions.

Our community in Rome has given thanks to the Lord for all that He worked in the course of our Family’s 80-year-long life, for the sisters who have celebrated significant anniversaries of their religious profession – especially for our sister Rita Davoli who, at the Mother House in Parma, celebrated fifty years of profession together with the other sisters who made their profession in the same year. 

We have renewed our desire to give ourselves, like Mary, to the Lord’s Mercy, placing all our trust in Him, so that He may work through us, “[that are] small and unworthy, but much longed for [by God] and yearning to become instruments of His Omnipotence”, as Father Giacomo Spagnolo wrote to us. Our soul magnifies the Lord. We acknowledge that the mission is His and we, weak and beloved instruments, are His too. (Fernanda Tettamanzi  mmx)
