In occasione della solennità dell’Ascensione, abbiamo ricevuto i saluti accompagnati da una foto dei tre confratelli sul lungomare di Tangeri: Juan Antonio Flores Osuna sx, François Saleh Moll sx e Rolando Ruíz Durán sx: “Facciamo tesoro di questo istante come uno dei momenti significativi e stimolanti che stiamo vivendo alla vigilia del nostro arrivo a Fnideq (Castillejos).

Nella foto ci troviamo sulla “Corniche Merkala” e quello che si vede è il mare dello Stretto di Gibilterra. Inoltre, insolitamente, perché non l'abbiamo fatto apposta, si vede una striscia di terra dietro: le montagne alla sinistra di p. Rolando sono la punta dell'Africa, e dall'altra parte, alla destra di p. François, c'è la Spagna, cioè l'Europa. L'obiettivo della fotocamera era nelle mani dei giovani marocchini. Questa foto, in qualche modo, è un segno di ciò che vogliamo essere: un ponte tra continenti, religioni, culture, luoghi che, alla fine, hanno sempre un punto di incontro... Essere ponte -rivelando il punto di incontro, con il sogno di fare del mondo una famiglia di fratelli - è una vocazione missionaria, la nostra vocazione in Marocco. Un saluto fraterno e affettuoso da parte nostra”.

Post-scriptum 

“Non ci siamo ancora installati a Fnideq (Castillejos). Abbiamo fatto solo diverse visite durante i lavori di ristrutturazione. Arriveremo, a Dio piacendo, per risiedere e iniziare la presenza in modo stabile, il 31 maggio 2021 (Festa della Visitazione della Beata Vergine). La Visitazione è l'icona che le Chiese del Nord Africa hanno scelto come ispirazione e guida per la loro presenza e missione tra i popoli islamici. Vogliono essere Chiese portatrici della più grande speranza per l'umanità.”

On the occasion of the solemnity of the Ascension, we have received from Morocco the greetings and a photo of the three Xaverian confreres on the seafront of Tangier:  Fr. Juan Antonio Flores Osuna sx, Fr. François Saleh Moll sx and Fr. Rolando Ruíz Durán sx. “We treasure this moment as one of the significant and stimulating moments we are experiencing on the eve of our arrival in Fnideq (Castillejos).

The picture shows us standing on the “Corniche Merkala”. The sea of the Strait of Gibraltar is also visible. Unusually (we did not do it on purpose), a strip of land can also be seen behind us. The mountains, at the left side of Fr. Rolando, are the tip of the African continent and, on the other side, at the right of Fr. Francois, is Spain, that is, Europe. The camera zoom was in the hands of a young Moroccan! This photo is somehow a sign of what we want to be: a bridge between continents, religions, cultures – places which, in the end, have always a meeting point. Being a bridge - revealing a meeting point, with the dream of making the world one family of brothers and sisters - is a missionary vocation; it is our vocation in Morocco. A fraternal and affectionate greeting from us.”

Post- scriptum

“We have not yet settled in Fnideq (Castillejos). We only made several visits to see the renovations. God willing, we will arrive, settle down and begin our presence in a stable way on May 31^st – 2021 (Feast of the Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary). The Visitation is the icon that the Churches of North Africa have chosen as inspiration and guide of their presence and mission among the Islamic peoples.  They want to be churches that bring the greatest hope for humanity”.
