Il nostro confratello p. Giuseppino Dovigo, membro della comunità Saveriana di Vicenza, Italia, ha concluso la tetralogia dei Venerabili Servi di Dio che saranno beatificati a Uvira (Repubblica Democratica del Congo) il 18 agosto 2024: fr. Vittorio Faccin, p. Giovanni Didonè, p. Luigi Carrara e l’abbé Albert Joubert.
P. Giuseppino conclude così il suo 4° ed ultimo e agile opuscolo sui 4 martiri: L’Abbé Joubert “…è rimasto, quando ben poteva attraversare il lago e così rifugiarsi in Burundi con facilità, da congolese. È rimasto fedele alla sua vocazione, nella scelta fatta di essere discepolo di Gesù fino alla fine, nell’immergersi nella solidarietà, fratello tra fratelli, sapendo che donare la vita non è perdere, ma scegliere la vera vita. Abbé Albert, modesto e obbediente, figlio del capitano Joubert e di mamma Agnès, - e quindi “terra di mezzo” - è icona dell’amore universale ed è speranza africana”.
Our confrere Fr. Giuseppino Dovigo, member of the Xaverian community in Vicenza, Italy, has just completed the tetralogy of the Venerable Servants of Godthat will be beatified in Uvira (Democratic Republic of the Congo) on August 18th, 2024: Br. Vittorio Faccin, Fr. Giovanni Didonè, Fr. Luigi Carrara and diocesan priest Fr. Albert Joubert.
This is how Fr. Giuseppino ends his fourth and last booklet on the four martyrs: Fr. Joubert “remained, even if, as a Congolese, he could have easily crossed the lake and found refuge in Burundi. He remained, faithful to his vocation, to his choice of being a disciple of Jesus till the very end. He remained in solidarity with his brothers, knowing that to donate one’s life is not to lose it, rather it is to choose the true life. The modest and obedient Fr. Albert was the son of Captain Joubert and mom Agnès – that is, he was sort of “middle ground”, and for this he is an icon of universal love and of African hope.”
