Abbiamo cominciato dopo pranzo con la lettura del Vangelo del giorno (Mc 1,21-28). In seguito, p. Patrick Duffy ha dato il benvenuto ai confratelli all'Assemblea. Abbiamo accolto al nostro incontro anche p. Mauro Loda sx, Vicario Generale.

I lavori sono stati aperti con una relazione a partire dal XVIII Capitolo Generale. Successivamente p. Mauro Loda ci ha aggiornato sul programma della Direzione Generale per i prossimi 6 anni. Abbiamo, poi, esaminato le strutture regionali e i cambiamenti che avranno luogo quest'anno. P. Ian Bathgate, Economo Regionale, ha presentato una panoramica sulla situazione delle finanze della Regione. P. Jim Clarke, in seguito, ha esposto il lavoro di un gruppo di Saveriani e amici che ci stanno aiutando nella raccolta fondi e nell’economia. Si tratta di una nuova iniziativa che nasce dall'ultimo Capitolo Regionale. La prima giornata si è conclusa con i Vespri e la cena insieme. Mercoledì 10 gennaio abbiamo iniziato insieme con l'Eucaristia presieduta da p. Patrick. Abbiamo preso in considerazione l’organigramma per le Giornate Missionarie 2024 e discusso il tema della cura dei confratelli bisognosi di attenzione medica. I membri della Regione UK non sono più così giovani ed è necessario saper portare i pesi gli uni degli altri. Abbiamo anche considerato l’argomento della formazione in materia di Tutela dei minori. La signora Helena, un ufficiale di addestramento della Scottish Catholic Safeguarding Standards Agency ci ha offerto una serie di input. Questo momento si è convertito in un forum aperto dove abbiamo potuto fare domande, presentare alcune preoccupazioni, chiedere consigli ed indicazioni precise. Abbiamo concluso il nostro tempo vissuto insieme con il pranzo. (Patrick Duffy sx)

We began after lunch with the reading of the Gospel of the Day (Mark 1:21-28) and then Fr. Patrick Duffy welcomed the brothers to the Assembly. We also welcomed Fr. Mauro Loda sx, the Vicar General, to our gathering.  

We began with a Report from General Chapter and Fr. Mauro Loda then updated us on the program of the General Direction for the coming 6 years. We then looked at Regional Structures and the changes that will be taking place in this year. Fr. Ian Bathgate, the Regional Bursar, gave and overview on the finances of the Region. Fr. Jim Clarke then presented the work of a group of Xaverians and friends who are helping us with the fundraising and finances. This is a new initiative that grew from the last Regional Chapter. The first day finished with Evening Prayer and Supper together. 

On Wednesday 10^th, we celebrated Eucharist together presided by Fr. Patrick. We looked at the Mission Appeals for 2024 and we had a discussion about what happens when a confrere becomes hospitalized or ill: given that we are not getting younger, we need to share the burdens together! We also considered the topic on Safeguarding input from Helena, the training officer of the Scottish Catholic Safeguarding Standards Agency. This was an open forum where we could ask questions, raise concerns, and seek advice and guidance. We the finished our time together with lunch! (Patrick Duffy sx)
