Puntualmente la casa Saveriana di Vicenza, come ogni anno, apre ai visitatori la mostra di presepi. I volontari con le signore animatrici, Attilia e Vanda, lavorano durante l’anno per questa esposizione artistica con statuette provenienti da tutto il mondo. Sanno costruire con immaginazione le abitazioni e i paesaggi secondo la provenienza. L’esposizione di quest’anno esibisce 250 presepi, molti dei quali sono di nuova creazione. Come gli artisti dei quartieri di Napoli, si è distinto il signor Guido Cortese di Rozzampia (Vicenza), realizzando personalmente nel suo laboratorio i personaggi del Natale per una decina di presepi, usando l’argilla, che viene cotta e poi colorata. Accanto alla mostra, c’è sempre il piccolo mercatino natalizio con ricami e altri lavori, che gentilmente volontari-e mettono a disposizione a favore della missione. All’esterno, nel verde del prato e delle piante, all’entrata dell’istituto, sono costruite le rappresentazioni del Natale a misura d’uomo, alcune sono dello scorso anno e altre sono nuove. I creatori sono sempre i componenti del gruppo missionario della parrocchia San Tomio di Malo (Vicenza), che sono stati i primi ad arrivare e a creare l’atmosfera natalizia già da qualche settimana.
Il poeta e scrittore romano Trilussa potrebbe ammonirci quando dice:
“… La gente fa er presepe nun me sente;
cerca sempre de fallo più sfarzoso,
però cià er core freddo e indifferente
e non capisce che senza l’amore
è cianfrusaja che nun cià valore…”

The Xaverian House of Vicenza opened the exhibition of presepi (Christmas cribs) on time, like every year. Volunteers, with their leaders Attilia and Vanda, work throughout the year to prepare this artistic display of statuettes coming from all over the world. With lots of creativity, they build houses and landscapes according to the place of origins of the statuettes. This year, there are 250 Nativity Scenes on display, many of which are new creations. An artist on the par with those from the neighbourhoods of Naples, Mr Guido Cortese from Rozzampia (Vicenza) stands out for personally realising in his own workshop the Christmas characters of a dozen Nativity Scenes, which he creates by using clay that is then fired and painted. Near the exhibition there is always a small Christmas market selling embroideries and other works that volunteers kindly offer for the mission. Outside, on the green lawn and among green plants at the entrance of our Institute, human-sized Nativity Scenes have been installed: some are the same of last year, while others are new. Their creators are always the members of the missionary group from the parish of San Tomio di Malo (Vicenza), who were the first to arrive few weeks ago and the first to create an atmosphere of Christmas season.
At this time, it may be wise remembering also the warning by Roman poet and writer Trilussa:
“… La gente fa er presepe nun me sente;
(…people prepare the crib and do not listen to me;)
cerca sempre de fallo più sfarzoso,
(they always try to make it more lavish,)
però cià er core freddo e indifferente
(but they have a cold and indifferent heart)
e non capisce che senza l’amore
