The first Xaverians arrived in Colombia in 1975, in the Apostolic Vicariate of Buenaventura, one of the most forgotten corners of the country in those days. In collaboration with the Xaverians of Yarumal1, the Xaverians of Parma took part in the evangelization of the Vicariate, through the consolidation of new Christian communities and the formation of catechists. The Xaverians of Parma stood out in the promotion of the Afro-Americans of the area. The first work of this kind was done thanks to the motivation and the initiative of the Xaverians. Later, the Xaverian presence extended to other parts of the country: Cali, Bogotá and Medellín. This led to a greater variety in the Xaverian missionary activities.
