Il 27 ottobre 2024 si è tenuta una solenne celebrazione presso il cimitero diocesano di Zhengzhou (Henan, Cina) durante la quale i fedeli hanno commemorato l’ottantesimo anniversario della presenza in Cielo di Mons. Luigi Calza, primo vescovo della Diocesi di Zhengzhou. Più di 300 persone da diverse città hanno partecipato alla celebrazione, tra cui alcuni sacerdoti e la comunità delle Suore di San Giuseppe, che furono fondate dal vescovo Calza nel 1914. La celebrazione Eucaristica era stata fissata per le 9:30 del mattino. Poiché la maggior parte dei partecipanti era arrivata un’ora in anticipo, essi hanno potuto approfondire la storia e la vita del vescovo Calza, provare alcuni canti per la Messa e pregare la Coroncina della Divina Misericordia. La Messa si è conclusa verso le 11:30, dopo di che i fedeli si sono recati spontaneamente alle tombe dei sacerdoti, delle suore e di altri fedeli cattolici per pregare e spargere acqua santa. Una suora di San Giuseppe ha detto: “Sono venuti a omaggiare il loro vescovo portando molte preoccupazioni e richieste. Hanno pregato per lui, e lo hanno pregato. Io credo che riceveranno quanto hanno chiesto.” Molti hanno manifestato un grande interesse per la vita di Calza; infatti, al ritorno a casa hanno cercato ulteriori informazioni su di lui. On October 27^th, 2024, a solemn celebration was held at the Diocesan cemetery of Zhengzhou (He Nan, China) as the faithful commemorated the 80° anniversary of presence in heaven of Monsignor Luigi Calza, the first Bishop of Zhengzhou Diocese. More than 300 people from different cities participated in the celebration, including some priests and the community of the Sisters of St. Joseph, founded by Bishop Calza in 1914. The Eucharistic celebration was scheduled at 9:30 AM. Since the majority arrived one hour earlier, they deepened the story and life of Bishop Calza, practiced the songs for the Mass, and prayed the Divine Mercy Chaplet. The Mass ended at around 11:30 AM, and then the faithful spontaneously went to the tombstone of the priests, sisters, and other faithful to pray and sprinkle holy water. A sister of St. Joseph said: “They came to pay respect to their Bishop with a lot of worries and petitions. They prayed for him, and they prayed to him, and I believe it will be given to them.” Many showed great interest in Calza’s life as they looked for more information about him back home. (Simon s.x.)
