“Andate e invitate al banchetto tutti” è il titolo del messaggio per la Giornata Missionaria Mondiale 2024. Il tema si ispira alla parabola evangelica dell’invito alla festa di nozze del figlio del re (Mt. 22,1-14).
Scrive papa Francesco: “…Ancora oggi, in un mondo lacerato da divisioni e conflitti, il Vangelo di Cristo è la voce mite e forte che chiama gli uomini a incontrarsi, a riconoscersi fratelli e a gioire dell’armonia tra le diversità...”. Per un discepolo-missionario, “la missione di portare il Vangelo ad ogni creatura deve avere lo stesso stile di Colui che si annuncia…”
“Colgo l’occasione, prosegue il papa, per ringraziare i missionari e le missionarie che, rispondendo alla chiamata di Cristo, hanno lasciato tutto per andare lontano dalla loro patria e portare la Buona Notizia là dove la gente ancora non l’ha ricevuta o l’ha accolta da poco. Carissimi, la vostra generosa dedizione è l’espressione tangibile dell’impegno della missione ad gentes…”

98th WORLD MISSION DAY (October 20th, 2024)
“Go and invite everyone to the banquet” is the title of the message for World Mission Day 2024. The theme is inspired by the Gospel parable of the invitation to the wedding of the king’s son (Mt 22: 1-14).
Pope Francis writes: “Today, in a world torn apart by divisions and conflicts, Christ’s Gospel remains the gentle yet firm voice that calls individuals to encounter one another, to recognize that they are brothers and sisters, and to rejoice in harmony amid diversity.” For a disciple-missionary, “the mission of bringing the Gospel to every creature must necessarily imitate the same ‘style’ of the One who is being preached.”
“I take this opportunity – continues the Pope – to thank all those missionaries who, in response to Christ’s call, have left everything behind to go far from their homeland and bring the Good News to places where people have not yet received it, or received it only recently. Dear friends, your generous dedication is a tangible expression of your commitment to the mission ad gentes…”
