UN CONFRATELLO RACCONTA LA FIGURA DI P. GIOVANNI BONARDI (1881-1974)

Il nostro confratello p. Antonio Trettel, della comunità della Casa Madre, Parma, è stato invitato dai giovani confratelli che partecipano all’Anno della Saverianità, Parma, a presentare la figura del Saveriano p. Giovanni Bonardi (1881-1974, numero di Professione 145).
Scrive p. Antonio Trettel: “P. Bonardi è stato il ‘Braccio destro del Fondatore’, il ‘Patriarca dei Saveriani’. Si tratta di una figura bellissima e grandissima di Saveriano, che ha segnato come nessun altro, credo, ma molto in sordina, molto discretamente, la storia Saveriana, accanto e dopo il Fondatore. L’ha fatto, appunto, modestamente e coscientemente, attento a non fare la minima ombra al Fondatore!
Una figura ancora tutta assolutamente da riscoprire, a mio parere, e da sistemare in bella evidenza, come si merita, nella vita e nella storia Saveriana…”.

A CONFRERE DESCRIBES THE PERSONALITY OF FR. GIOVANNI BONARDI (1881-1974)
The young confreres who are participating in the Year of Xaverian Spirituality in Parma have invited Fr. Antonio Trettel, member of the Community of the Mother House, to illustrate the personality of the Xaverian Fr. Giovanni Bonardi (1881-1974, profession no. 145). Fr. Antonio Trettel writes:
Bonardi was the “right-hand man of the Founder,” a “Patriarch of the Xaverians.” He was a truly remarkable and towering figure among the Xaverians; I believe, he left his mark on Xaverian history like no other, though always in a very quiet and discreet fashion, alongside and after the Founder. He did so, in fact, modestly and conscientiously, careful not to cast the slightest shadow over the Founder!
In my opinion, his personality still deserves to be fully rediscovered and to receive the prominent place it merits in Xaverian life and history.
