Dai dati statistici dello Stato del Personale 2025 (cfr. edizione cartacea aggiornata al 20 marzo 2025, pp.91ss) vengo a sapere, per esempio, che:

• Poco più della metà dei membri della famiglia Saveriana è sulle strade della terra (646 Saveriani viventi), mentre quasi un’altra metà è già in Cielo (575 defunti).
• Anche se non vogliamo (e non dovremmo!), siamo sempre più un Istituto smaccatamente ‘clericale’: i Saveriani Fratelli Professi Perpetui sono soltanto 21 su un totale di 646 Saveriani viventi...
• Nella famiglia Saveriana sono presenti oggi (con almeno un rappresentante) ben 17 nazionalità. Gli Italiani rappresentano solo un po’ più di un terzo (267 dei 646 Saveriani viventi); seguono il Messico con 95, l’Indonesia con 91 (?), RDCongo con 68 Saveriani.
• Il quadro de I Giovani nelle nostre Comunità (pag. 95 dello Stato del Personale 2025) è sfasato, almeno per quel che attiene all’Africa: i 66 giovani del Burundi – in riferimento ai Postulanti e Novizi - non sono infatti solo del Burundi, ma in buona parte anche del RDCongo, ecc.
• L’ultimo Saveriano professo porta il numero di professione 2644. Ora i Saveriani viventi sono 646, e con i 575 defunti, la famiglia Saveriana allargata al Cielo comprende quindi oggi 1221 membri. I fratelli separatisi lungo la strada sono stati dunque ben 1423...
• I 646 Saveriani viventi sono oggi dispersi in Africa (137), America Latina (140), Asia (152), Occidente (207)...

Se siamo diventati e vogliamo restare dei “missionari ad-omnia”, va benone così, ben dispersi ... e ad omnia, appunto! Se invece vogliamo essere fedeli alla nostra vocazione-carisma missionario, unico ed esclusivo, specifico, ... allora, credo, che dovremmo riconsiderare lucidamente di nuovo i veri ‘bersagli’ affidatici, e ristrutturare radicalmente con coraggio i programmi e la ridistribuzione delle (poche) forze disponibili in funzione esclusivamente delle ‘Genti’ (cfr Paolo, Gal 1, 15-17; 2,1-14)!

Naturalmente varie altre noterelle interessanti sono possibili da scoprire!

There are several things I learn from reading the statistics contained in Stato del Personale 2025 (see the paper edition updated on March 20^th, 2025, on p. 91 and on); for instance:

• There are 646 living Xaverians, a little more than those already in Heaven (575).
• Even if we do not want (and we should not!), we are an increasingly ‘clerical’ institute: the perpetually professed Xaverian brothers are only 21 out of a total of 646 living Xaverians.
• Today, the Xaverian family includes (at least with one representative) 17 nationalities. Italians represent only a little more than a third (267 of the 646 living Xaverians); they are followed by Mexicans (95), Indonesians (91 ?), Congolese (68).
• The picture of I Giovani nelle Nostre Comunità (young students, p. 95 of Stato del Personale 2025) is kind of unbalanced, at least for what concerns Africa: in fact, the 66 young people of Burundi – which refers to postulants and novices – do not come only from Burundi but for a good part also from DRCongo, etc.
• The profession number of the last professed Xaverian is 2644. Considering that, presently, there are 646 alive Xaverians and that the departed ones are 575, the total number of the members of the Xaverian family is 1221, whereas the brothers who drifted away from our journey are 1423.
• Today, the 646 living Xaverians are scattered in Africa (137), Latin America (140), Asia (152), West (207).

If we have become and want to remain ad-omnia missionaries, this is a good situation: well scattered and ad omnia. However, if we want to remain faithful to our missionary vocation and charism, to our sole, exclusive and specific  purpose, … then I think we should once again reconsider which are the true ‘aims’ given to us, and radically restructure with courage our programmes and the distribution of the (few) strengths at our disposal for the exclusive goal of the ‘Gentiles’ (see Paul, Galatians 1: 15-17; 2: 1-14)!
