“…Gesù si preoccupa della stanchezza dei discepoli. Forse sta cogliendo un pericolo che può riguardare anche la nostra vita e il nostro apostolato, quando ad esempio l’entusiasmo nel portare avanti la missione, o il lavoro, così come il ruolo e i compiti che ci sono affidati ci rendono vittime dell’attivismo, e questa è una cosa brutta: troppo preoccupati delle cose da fare, troppo preoccupati dei risultati. E allora succede che ci agitiamo e perdiamo di vista l’essenziale, rischiando di esaurire le nostre energie e di cadere nella stanchezza del corpo e dello spirito. È un monito importante per la nostra vita, per la nostra società spesso prigioniera della fretta, ma anche per la Chiesa e per il servizio pastorale: fratelli e sorelle, stiamo attenti alla dittatura del fare! ...”
ANGELUS (JULY 21, 2024): "Come away by yourselves to a deserted place and rest a while"
"… Jesus is concerned about the disciples' tiredness. Perhaps he is aware of a danger that can also affect our lives and our apostolate — for example, when the enthusiasm for carrying out the mission or work, or the roles and tasks assigned to us, make us victims of activism — and this is a bad thing: too concerned with things to do and too concerned with results. We then become distressed and lose sight of what is essential, running the risk of exhausting our energies and falling into bodily and spiritual fatigue. This is an important warning for our life and for our society, which is often held prisoner by haste, but also for the Church and pastoral service: brothers and sisters, let us beware of the dictatorship of doing!"
