Come in altre parti del mondo, il popolo di Dio che vive in Messico ha vissuto una violenta persecuzione religiosa tra gli anni 1926 e 1929. Molti di questi figli e figlie furono condotti al martirio. Il sangue di questi martiri è stato un seme gettato nelle nostre terre messicane, generando nuova vita, nuovi rapporti e un rinnovato impegno battesimale.  

Nel nostro Seminario Minore di Arandas, Jal., i primi Missionari Saveriani - i padri fondatori di questa comunità – si impegnarono a ricercare e ritrovare i corpi di alcuni martiri, sepolti in varie parti del territorio de Los Altos. Grande fu la determinazione e il coraggio, in particolare, di p. Bruno Calderaro sx. Con un forte intuito, infatti, nel riconoscere la loro santità e forza missionaria, con profonda venerazione, portarono e inumarono le spoglie dei martiri Ezequiel e Salvador Huerta Gutiérrez (Fratelli) e Luis Magaña Servín nella cappella del nostro Seminario. Attualmente abbiamo solo poche reliquie di primo e secondo grado di questi santi, riconosciuti dalla Chiesa Universale, perché tutto è stato donato alla Chiesa locale.  Il nostro confratello p. Tiberio Munari sx ha scritto e promosso la vita di questi santi che sono molto amati e venerati soprattutto nella regione degli Altos de Jalisco. Le ultime parole dei fratelli Huerta Gutiérrez sono ancora oggi un forte e fecondo messaggio missionario: "Li perdoniamo, vero?" "Sì, li perdoniamo. Voglia il cielo che il nostro sangue serva per la salvezza di molti". (Juan Olvera Servín sx)

As in many other parts of the world, the people of God that lives in Mexico experienced a violent religious persecution from 1926 to 1929. Many children of this people suffered martyrdom. Their blood was a seed scattered on our Mexican land, a seed that generated new life, new relationships, and a renewed baptismal commitment.  

The first Xaverian Missionaries – those that founded our community of the Minor Seminary in Arandas, Jalisco – took great pain to search and exhume the bodies of some martyrs who had been buried in various parts of the Los Altos territory. They were much determined and courageous, especially Fr. Bruno Calderaro s.x. With great intuition in recognising the holiness and missionary dynamism of these martyrs, as well as with profound veneration of them, those fathers took and entombed the bodies of the martyrs Ezequiel and Salvador Huerta Gutiérrez (the two were brothers) and Luis Magaña Servín in the chapel of our Seminary. Presently, we only have few first and second grade relics of these saints who were acknowledged by the Universal Church, because all main relics have been donated to the local Church. Our confrere Fr. Tiberio Munari s.x. wrote about them and promoted knowledge of the life of these saints that are much loved and venerated, especially in the region of Altos de Jalisco. The last words uttered by the Huerta Gutiérrez brothers even today remain a strong and fruitful missionary message: “We forgive them, don’t we?” “Yes, we forgive them. May Heaven wish that our blood be useful to the salvation of many.” (Juan Olvera Servín s.x.)
