Domenica 21 ottobre al mattino presto le spoglie mortali di P. Marino Rigon arriveranno in Bangladesh accompagnate dal Console del Bangladesh a Milano e dal nipote Marino Cavestro. La salma sarà subito trasportata in elicottero da Dhaka a Shelabunia, la missione dove P. Marino lavorava. Tutto a spese del governo bengalese.

A Shelabunia ci sarà la cerimonia di benvenuto da parte delle autorità locali e governative e poi la liturgia eucaristica in chiesa e la sepoltura nel campo antistante. Sarà presente anche l'Ambasciatore dell' Italia.

P. Marino Rigon si era meritato, oltre a tanti riconoscimenti e glorie, anche la Cittadinanza Bangladeshi e il Riconoscimento ufficiale di Amico straniero durante la guerra di liberazione del 1971.

Oltre che per il suo contributo umanitario durante la guerra, il Governo è riconoscente verso di lui soprattutto per il suo enorme impegno nel dialogo interculturale tra Bangladesh e Italia con le sue numerose traduzioni di poeti Bengalesi e per gli incontri internazionali di scambio culturale.

BANGLADESH

The body of Fr. Marino Rigon will arrive in Bangladesh on Sunday, October 21 – 2018. It will be accompanied by his nephew Mr. Marino Cavestro and by the Bengali Consul, residing in Milan. It will transported immediately by helicopter from Dhaka to Shelabunia, the mission where Fr. Marino Rigon had been working. The Bengali Government will take care of all the expenditures.

In Shelabunia there will be a welcoming ceremony, organized by the Local and Governmental Authorities. It will be followed by the Eucharistic Celebration in the local church, and burial in close-by cemetery. The Italian Ambassador will also be present.

Fr. Marino Rigon had been found deserving, among so many acknowledgments and glories, also of the Bengali Citizenship, and also of the official acknowledgement of Foreign Friend during the Freedom War of 1971.

The Government of Bangladesh has been very grateful both for Fr. Marino Rigon’s humanitarian contribution during the war, and even more, for his enormous commitment to the intercultural dialogue between Bangladesh and Italy. Numerous were his translations from Bangladesh poets, and also for his participation in many Internationals Meetings of Cultural Exchange.
