Abbiamo appena concluso tre settimane di animazione missionaria e vocazionale suddivise in due gruppi di giovani: il I gruppo dal 14 al 19 luglio 2023 e il II gruppo dal 23 al 28 luglio 2023 dove hanno partecipato in totale 41 ragazzi. Il gruppo dei finalisti, composto di 12 giovani, ha concluso la terza settimana di animazione e promozione (6-11 agosto 2023). 

I giovani hanno approfondito il discernimento della volontà di Dio per loro in relazione al carisma saveriano.

La buona riuscita di queste tre settimane di discernimento vocazionale è stata il frutto di un cammino sinodale. Vari confratelli, infatti, hanno condiviso la loro testimonianza vocazionale e missionaria per incoraggiare i giovani a donare la propria vita al Signore Gesù nella missione ad Gentes, ad Extra, ad Vitam. Il secondo gruppo è stato provvidenzialmente visitato anche dalla partecipazione del Superiore Generale, p. Fernando García Rodríguez,  e dai pp.  Félix Kuate Bougieka, Superiore Regionale del Camerun-Ciad, e Faustino Turco, Postulatore Generale.

Il Superiore Generale ha insistito molto sull' “incontro personale e l'amicizia con Cristo. Un vero discepolo dona il Signore Gesù a quanti ancora non lo conoscono. Ha, inoltre, insistito sull’importanza della verità, della libertà e sulla retta intenzione in vista della decisione di entrare nell’Istituto dei Missionari Saveriani”.

Un altro aspetto importante di questa esperienza di animazione missionaria e vocazionale è che l'équipe della casa di formazione ha seguito da vicino i giovani. L'animatore vocazionale, infatti, ha consegnato all'équipe un elenco con una breve presentazione e foto per aiutarli a conoscere i candidati. Successivamente, il rettore ha avuto un colloquio con ciascuno dei 12 giovani giunti alla conclusione delle tre settimane. Questa metodologia farà sì che al momento di ammettere e accogliere i candidati alla tappa della Propedeutica, l'équipe non dovrà basarsi unicamente sul parere dell'animatore vocazionale ma della partecipazione e testimonianza di vari confratelli. We have just concluded three weeks of missionary awareness and vocation promotion divided into two groups: the first from July 14^th to 19^th, the second from July 23^rd to 28^th – two moments attended by a total of 41 young men. A group of finalists made up of 12 young men took part in the third concluding week (August 6^th-11^th).

These young people carried out a deep discernment of God's will on them in relation to the Xaverian charism.

The good result of these three weeks of vocational discernment was the outcome of a synodal journey, during which various confreres shared their vocational and missionary experience to encourage the young people towards giving their own lives to the Lord Jesus for the mission ad Gentes, ad Extra, ad Vitam. Providentially, the second group had the chance to meet the Superior General, Fr. Fernando García Rodríguez, Fr. Félix Kuate Bougieka, Regional Superior of Cameroon-Chad, and Fr. Faustino Turco, General Postulator.

The Superior General insisted on the “personal encounter and friendship with Jesus. A true disciple offers Jesus to those who do not know Him yet. Moreover, he emphasised the importance of truth, freedom and right intention when considering the decision to enter the Institute of the Xaverian Missionaries”.

Another important aspect of this experience of missionary awareness and vocation promotion is the fact that the team of the formation house closely followed the young people. In fact, the vocation director had prepared a list of names with brief introductions and photos to help the team know the candidates. Subsequently, the rector had a chat with each of the 12 young men that reached the conclusion of the three weeks. This method will ensure that, when admitting candidates to the Propaedeutics stage, the team will no longer have to rely solely on the opinion of the vocation director but also on the participation and testimony of various confreres.
