Il Superiore Regionale del Burundi, p. Gabriel Basuzwa, ha partecipato alla Conferenza dei Superiori Maggiori del Burundi (7-9 dicembre 2020). I tre argomenti trattati sono 1. la vita Religiosa nel contesto del Burundi, 2. l’Enciclica Fratelli tutti; 3. il vescovo di Ruyigi (incaricato per la Vita Consacrata in Burundi) ha presentato il percorso fatto fino ad oggi sulla collaborazione e la comunione fra Vescovi e la Vita Consacrata.

I temi condiviso hanno insistito sul bisogno di un rinnovamento e sulla necessità di assicurare l’unità tra le comunità di vita consacrata, i parroci e anche, in una certa misura, con i governanti. Si è fatto presente che nell’attuale contesto burundese ci sono molte persone consacrate e molti giovani in formazione. A questo numero elevato di vocazioni alla vita Consacrata deve necessariamente corrispondere una testimonianza profetica capace di trasformare positivamente la società. Da qui la necessità di una buona formazione dei formatori. È, infatti, la configurazione a Cristo e l’amore per il popolo di Dio che permettono di accelerare l’arrivo di una nuova storia del Burundi caratterizzata dalla fraternità.

Fr . Gabriel Basuzwa, s.x., Burundi’s Xaverian Regional Superior,  attended Burundi’s Conference of Major Superiors (7-9 December 2020).  The three topics covered are: 1. Religious Life in the context of Burundi;  2. The Encyclical ‘Fratelli Tutti’;  3. The Bishop of Ruyigi (appointed for Consecrated Life in Burundi) presented the path taken to date on the collaboration and communion between Bishops and Consecrated Life.

He shared themes underlined the need for renewal  and the need to ensure unity between the Communities of Consecrated Life, the parish Priests and also, to some extent, with the rulers.  It has been pointed out that in the current Burundian contest there are many consecrated persons and many young people in training.  The high number of vocations to Consecrated Life must necessarily be matched by a prophetic witness capable of positively transforming society.   Hence, the need for good training of Formation Personnel.  It is, in fact, the configuration to Christ and the love for the people of God that make it possible to accelerate the arrival of a new history of Burundi, characterized by fraternity.
