P. Faustino Turco s.x., postulatore generale, si trova in Burundi dal 4 luglio al 4 agosto dove ha preso parte al convegno saveriano sulla formazione in Africa che si è svolto a Bujumbura dall’11 al 18 luglio. Egli ha anche lavorato con p. Gabriel Basuzwa, vicepostulatore, sulla causa di beatificazione di Michel Kayoya e i suoi 43 compagni: Ottorino Maule s.x., Aldo Marchiol s.x., Catina Gubert e 40 seminaristi del seminario minore di Buta. Essi continuano il lavoro già iniziato e portato avanti da p. Guglielmo Camera dal 2019 al 2020. I partecipanti al convegno si sono recati in pellegrinaggio a Buyengero, luogo dell’assassinio di p. Maule e di p. Marchiol avvenuto il 30 settembre 1995. Unitamente alle famiglie ed amici dei martiri, siamo felici per il proseguo del processo che si era interrotto a causa della morte di p. Camera il 1° aprile 2020. Infatti, il 25 e 26 luglio 2022, il Tribunale ha incontrato i periti teologici e gli storici esperti nella storia di Bururi per valutare cosa fosse necessario per giungere alla chiusura dell’inchiesta diocesana il 2 agosto. Ringraziamo sia il vescovo di Bururi che l’arcivescovo di Gitega per la loro preziosa collaborazione. Questi due vescovi hanno permesso la continuazione del processo malgrado i funerali per un sacerdote della diocesi di Bururi il 25 luglio, la morte del vescovo emerito di Bururi, Mons. Venant Bacinoni, il 23 luglio e la sua sepoltura il 3 agosto. Questo periodo è stato pieno di eventi gioiosi. Il 27 luglio, i padri Faustino Turco s.x., Gabriel Basuzwa s.x. e Raphael Nkoa s.x. hanno preso parte in Gitega ad un seminario di un giorno per far conoscere il pensiero e la personalità di Michel Kayoya. Fr. Faustino Turco s.x., General Postulator, has been in Burundi from July 4^th to August 4^th to partake in the Xaverian congress on formation in Africa held in Bujumbura from July 11^th to 18^th. He has also worked with Fr. Gabriel Basuzwa, Vice Postulator, on the Cause of Beatification of Michel Kayoya and his 43 companions: Ottorino Maule s.x., Aldo Marchiol s.x., Catina Gubert and 40 seminarians of the minor seminary in Buta. They continue the work started and carried out by Fr. Guglielmo Camera from 2019 to 2020. Participants to the congress made a pilgrimage to Buyengero where Fr. Maule and Fr. Marchiol were assassinated on September 30^th, 1995. Together with the families and friends of the martyrs, we are happy for the continuation of the process that came to a halt because of Fr. Camera’s death on April 1^st, 2020. Indeed, On July 25^th and 26^th, 2022, the Tribunal met with theological censors and historian experts in the history of Bururi to assess what was needed to close the diocesan inquiry by August 2^nd. We thank both the Bishop of Bururi and the Archbishop of Gitega for their valuable collaboration. These two bishops allowed the process to continue despite the burial of a priest from Bururi diocese on July 25^th, the death of the bishop emeritus of Bururi, Msgr. Venant Bacinoni, on July 23^rd and his burial on August 3^rd. This period has been full of joyful events. On July 27^th, Fathers Faustino Turco s.x., Gabriel Basuzwa s.x. and Raphael Nkoa s.x. partook in a one-day seminar held in Gitega to make known the thoughts and personality of Michel Kayoya.
