La nuova sede dei Missionari Saveriani di Vicenza, inaugurata il 19 marzo 2001, comprendeva anche il fabbricato scolastico del 1959, mentre la villa e una buona parte del terreno erano stati venduti. Il grande edificio, isolato aldilà del fossato, dopo l’uso scolastico serviva solo come deposito dei presepi e raramente veniva usato per incontri di gruppi. Nel 2019 è arrivata la richiesta della chiesa ortodossa Rumena di poter usufruire degli ambienti al piano terra (salone-teatro e annessi) per le loro celebrazioni. Con l’approvazione del Vescovo di Vicenza, la Direzione Regionale ha accettato volentieri la domanda ed ha firmato con la chiesa ortodossa un accordo di una durata di dieci anni. La sala-teatro è ora trasformata in un accogliente luogo di silenzio e di culto.

Qui, mercoledì 25 gennaio, abbiamo avuto l’incontro di preghiera per l’unità dei cristiani, per iniziativa dell’unità pastorale di Santa Croce (Carmini), in collaborazione con p. Roman, responsabile della chiesa ortodossa, con il sacerdote delegato diocesano e con il nostro rettore, p. Silvano Zordanello sx. Cantavamo in italiano con la melodia del rituale ortodosso e pregavamo con ricche invocazioni litaniche intercalate dalla corale romena. (Giuseppe Dovigo sx)

The new house of the Xaverian missionaries in Vicenza, which was inaugurated on March 19^th, 2001, included the school building of 1959, whereas the villa and large part of land had been sold. That big building on the other side of the ditch, which was once used for the school needs, now served only as warehouse for the nativity scenes and, rarely, for holding meetings with people. In 2019, we received a request from the Romanian Orthodox Church to utilise the rooms of the first floor (big hall, theatre and other facilities) for its celebrations. With the approval of the Bishop of Vicenza, the Regional Direction agreed to the request and signed a ten-year deal with the Orthodox Church. The hall and theatre have been transformed into a welcoming place of silence and worship.

On Wednesday, January 25^th, here we held a prayer meeting for Christian unity. It was organised by the pastoral unit of Santa Croce (Carmini Church), in collaboration with Fr. Roman, leader of the Orthodox Church, with the diocesan priest in charge of ecumenism, and with our rector, Fr. Silvano Zordanello s.x. We sang in Italian to the tunes of Orthodox rites and prayed with rich litanies alternated by intermissions of Romanian choruses. (Giuseppe Dovigo s.x.)
