In occasione del 177° anniversario di nascita del capitano Joubert (nato in Francia il 22.02.1842), padre del Servo di Dio, l’abbé Albert Joubert, una Messa è stata organizzata il 22 febbraio scorso nella cappella San Pierre Claver, presso la Casa Provinciale dei Gesuiti a Kinshasa. Durante l’eucaristia, partecipata da un centinaio di persone, fra cui Padri Bianchi, religiose e fedeli di Moba, il padre Mate sj ha presentato la figura del capitano Joubert come missionario laico e figura moderna di difesa dei diritti umani e di lotta contro la schiavitù, sempre in comunione con la Chiesa. Il suo esempio di vita ha lasciato un segno incancellabile nell’educazione dei suoi figli e in particolare nell’Abbé Albert Joubert che ha dato testimonianza del Vangelo fino al martirio, avvenuto a Fizi il 28.11.1964. Dopo la messa, la famiglia Joubert ha organizzato l’inaugurazione ufficiale della “Fondazione Capitano Joubert” il cui scopo è promuovere delle attività culturali per mantenere viva la memoria e per agire secondo l’ideale cha ha animato il capitano Joubert e la sua famiglia. Il p. Faustino Turco ha approfittato di questa occasione per dare una testimonianza sul valore della interculturalità partendo dall’esempio del Servo di Dio Albert Joubert.

On the 177^th  Death Anniversary of Captain Joubert (born on February 22 – 1842, in France), father of the Servant of God , Abbè Albert Joubert, a Holy Mass was organized on February 22 – 2019 in the Chapel of San Pierre Claver, in  the Provincial House of the Jesuit Fathers in Kinshasa.  During the celebration, at the presence of about one hundred persons, among whom there were White Fathers, Religious and parishioners of Moba, Fr. Mate sj recalled the figure of Captain Joubert as a lay missionary and modern figure of a defendant of human rights and rejection of slavery, always in the deepest communion with the Church.  His example and his life left an indelible mark in the education of his children and, in particular, in Abbè Albert Joubert, who testified to the Gospel to his very death with his martyrdom at Fizi on November 28 - 1964.  After the celebration of the Eucharist, the Joubert family organized the official inauguration of “The Foundation Captain Joubert”.  Its end is to foster cultural activities to keep alive the memory and behave in life according to the ideals which enlivened Captain Joubert and his family.   Fr. Faustino Turco took the occasion for his personal witness of the value of interculturality, beginning with the example of the Servant of God Abbè Albert Joubert.
