“… essere luogo di amicizia tra le persone e i popoli, aprendo strade di incontro e di dialogo. In questa ora travagliata della storia, il Papa vi incoraggia affinché non venga mai meno la disponibilità a un’ ‘amicizia inesauribile’ — perché fondata in Cristo e sulla roccia di Pietro —, pronti a cogliere il bene che chiunque può portare alla vita di tutti, perché ‘le altre culture non sono nemici da cui bisogna difendersi, ma sono riflessi differenti della ricchezza inesauribile della vita umana’ (Enc. Fratelli tutti, 147)… È la nostra esperienza umana, che condividiamo con ogni persona, a qualunque tradizione culturale e religiosa appartenga, il terreno sul quale si può radicare l’esperienza dell’amicizia che costruisce storia, come disse Papa Benedetto XVI: ‘L’incontro delle culture è possibile perché l’uomo, nonostante tutte le differenze della sua storia e delle sue creazioni comunitarie, è un identico e unico essere. “…To be a place of friendship between persons and peoples, opening paths of encounter and dialogue. In this troubled hour of history, the Pope encourages you so that the readiness for an “inexhaustible friendship” — because it is founded in Christ and on the rock of Peter — never fails, ready to grasp the good that anyone can bring to the life of all, because “other cultures are not ‘enemies’ from which we need to protect ourselves, but differing reflections of the inexhaustible richness of human life” (Encyclical Fratelli Tutti, 147)… It is our human experience, which we share with every person, whatever cultural and religious tradition they belong to, that is the ground on which the experience of friendship that builds history can be rooted, as Pope Benedict XVI said: “The meeting of cultures is possible because man, despite all the differences of his history and social constructs, remains one and the same being. This one being, man, however, is himself touched in the depth of his existence by truth” (Christ, Faith and the Challenge of Cultures, 3 March 1993).”
