La nostra comunità di Franklin, Wisconsin, Stati Uniti, ha tenuto l'annuale Festival della Missione di due giorni (sabato e domenica 21-22 Giugno 2025). Lo scopo della festa era la sensibilizzazione alla missione ad gentes e la raccolta di fondi. Questa festa si svolge ormai da anni, da quando cioè fu costruita la casa Saveriana di Franklin, negli Stati Uniti, la “Scuola Apostolica” (Seminario Minore) edificata negli anni ’60.

Il festival prevede il “Rummage Sale” (dal verbo Rummage = frugare), in cui laici e amici saveriani, volontari e associati donano alla Missione i loro oggetti domestici inutilizzati, mobili di vario genere e li vendono a un prezzo economico che va dai 25 centesimi ai 20 dollari. Oltre al mercatino dell'usato, ci sono stati anche sorteggi, cene per una causa, band dal vivo, giochi di società, bevande, hamburger e tacos a prezzi convenienti per i clienti. Tutto il ricavato andrà a favore delle attività della missione saveriana.

Il secondo giorno (Domenica) è iniziato con la concelebrazione eucaristica in giardino presieduta da p. Mark Marangone, Superiore delegato. Un buon numero di persone è venuto a partecipare, accompagnato dall'esibizione del Coro delle Campane.

La festa è stata anche un modo per condividere con la gente il nostro bel posto con un ampio giardino. Inoltre, abbiamo condiviso la nostra vocazione missionaria e il nostro carisma con cattolici e non cattolici.  I Saveriani sono stati grati per la buona riuscita dell’iniziativa e anche la gente è stata contenta per le opportunità che ha sperimentato durante il festival. Our community in Franklin, Wisconsin, held its annual Two-day Mission Festival. This year the event fell on June 21-22, Saturday and Sunday. The purpose of the celebration is Mission Awareness ad gentes and Fundraising Activities. This Festival has been going on for years since around the 1960s, when our House in Franklin was built and served as “Casa Apostolica” or Minor Seminary.

The festival caters the “Rummage Sale”, wherein Xaverian Lay, Friends, Volunteers, Associates and others donate to the Mission their unused household items, furniture and the likes, and sold them at the cheapest price, which ranges from 25 cents to 20$. Aside from the rummage sale, there are raffle draws, dinner for a cause, live band music, social games, beverages, burgers and tacos made available at an affordable cost. All the proceeds will benefit the Xaverian missionary activities.

The second day, Sunday, began with a Eucharistic celebration in the garden presided by the Delegate Superior, Fr. Mark Marangone. Usually, a good number of people participate. On this occasion the celebration was enriched by the performance of the Bell Choir.

The festival is also a way of sharing our beautiful place and its spacious garden with the people. Moreover, it is an occasion for introducing our missionary vocation and charism to Catholics and non-Catholics.  The Xaverians were grateful for the success of the event and also the people were pleased for the opportunities they experienced during the festival.
