Sabato 22 maggio, verso le 19:00, il vulcano Nyiragongo, alle cui pendici sorge la città di Goma (RDC) ha avuto un’eruzione inattesa, causando una decina di morti. I giorni seguenti, molte scosse di terremoto si sono susseguite, causando danni agli edifici. La notte, tra il 26 e il 27 maggio, il Governatore della Provincia del Nord-Kivu ha dato ordine agli abitanti di 10 quartieri della città di Goma di lasciare immediatamente le loro case a causa di un’imminente grande eruzione calcolata dagli esperti in base alla quantità di magma sottostante detti quartieri. Il quartiere di Ndosho, dove si trova la nostra comunità, non è citato fra i quartieri pericolosi. Durante la giornata del 27 maggio, la gente si è dunque messa in strada in tutte le direzioni creando una vera marea umana con molti disagi e incertezze.

On Saturday, May 22^nd- 2021, around 7:00 p.m., the Nyiragongo Volcano, on whose slopes stands the city of Goma (DRC), unexpectedly erupted, killing about ten people. In the following days, many earthquakes happened, causing damage to the buildings. On the night between May 26^th and 27^th, the Governor of North Kivu Province ordered the inhabitants of the neighborhoods of Goma city to leave their homes immediately, due to an impending large eruption, which was calculated by experts on the basis of the amount of magma underneath those neighborhoods. Ndosho, the neighborhood where our community is located, has not been mentioned among those in danger. On May 27^th, during the day, people took to the streets, moving in all directions and creating a real human tide with ensuing disruptions and uncertainties.
