Il 26 gennaio 2019 la Commissione per il dialogo interreligioso dell'Arcidiocesi di Osaka, diretta da padre Rocco Viviano sx, ha tenuto la 7a attività del 2018-19 presso il prestigioso tempio shintoista di Ikuta, nella città di Kobe. Tra i 35 partecipanti, principalmente cattolici, c'erano anche alcuni protestanti e un monaco buddista. L’evento è iniziato con una preghiera per l'arcidiocesi cattolica eseguita dai monaci shintoisti e una preghiera cattolica per i fedeli scintoisti che includeva un brano del Vangelo, un inno e il Padre nostro. Quindi a nome dell'arcivescovo, padre Rocco ha consegnato al reverendo Kida, vice del sommo sacerdote del tempio di Ikuta, il messaggio di auguri per il Nuovo Anno mandato dal Pontificio Consiglio per il dialogo interreligioso ai credenti shintoisti. Il reverendo Kida ha poi tenuto una lezione sulla struttura e le caratteristiche del tempio shintoista, seguita da un momento per domande.

On 26 January 2019, Osaka Archdiocese IRD Commission directed by Fr Rocco Viviano sx, held its 7^th activity of the year 2018-19 at the prestigious Ikuta Shinto Shrine, in the city of Kobe. Among the 35 participants, mainly Catholic faithful, were also some Protestants and a Buddhist priest. The event started with a prayer for the Catholic Archdiocese performed by the Shinto priests and a short Catholic prayer for the Shinto people which included a Gospel passage, a hymn and the Our Father. Then on behalf of the Archbishop, Fr Rocco presented reverend Kida, Ikuta Shrine’s Associate Chief Priest, with the New Year’s message issued by Pontifical Council for Interreligious Dialogue to Shinto believers. This was followed by a lecture by reverend Kida on the structure and the characteristics of the Shinto shrine and by a time for questions.
