«Non perdere il gusto per le cose celesti» (LT n.8) è la frase scelta da p. Lorenzo Valoti sx per condividere la sua risonanza sulla Lettera Testamento: Mi sembra questo - scrive l’autore - un richiamo che definirei semplicemente «bello!». La Lettera invita ad una «spiritualizzazione» della missione? Non lo credo. Piuttosto a me sembra che quello del Conforti sia un invito a far sì che il processo verso la piena umanizzazione del mondo, al quale l’evangelizzazione collabora, si fondi, come dice la Gaudium et Spes, «nel mistero di Cristo che solo illumina il mistero dell’uomo». Se con il mistero di Cristo non siamo coinvolti in modo profondo, non capiremo neppure bene quello che possiamo offrire all’uomo per illuminare il suo mistero.

“Do not lose the taste for heavenly things” (LT n. 8) is the phrase chosen by Fr. Lorenzo Valoti, s.x. to share his own resonance on the Testament Letter.  The author writes that “it seems to me an evident reminder that I would simply call ‘beautiful’”.  “Does the Letter call for a “spiritualization of mission? I do not think so.  Rather, it seems to me that the invitation of Conforti is meant to ensure that the process towards the full humanization of the world, in which Evangelization collaborates, is based, as ‘Gaudium et Spes’ says, ‘in the mystery of Christ, who alone illumines the mystery of man.  If we are not personally involved in the mystery of Christ, we will not understand well what we can offer man to illuminate his mystery.”
