Domenica 5  settembre 2021, la comunità parrocchiale di Kamenge ha fatto memoria del settimo anniversario dell’assassinio delle tre Missionarie di Maria - Saveriane: Olga Raschietti, Lucia Pulici e Bernardetta Boggian. In tutte le celebrazioni eucaristiche della parrocchia di San Guido Maria Conforti e nelle varie succursali, la Chiesa di Kamenge ha pregato per questi annunciatrici del Regno di Dio nelle regioni dei Grandi Laghi, e particolarmente in Burundi. Le celebrazioni sono state preparate insieme ai Laici Saveriani.

La giornata di martedì 7 settembre 2021 è stata dedicata all'adorazione eucaristica silenziosa che si è conclusa con una celebrazione eucaristica. Questi momenti celebrativi hanno avuto luogo nella Cappella della Pace e della Misericordia che è il risultato della trasformazione della casa dove vissero e lavorano le sorelle martiri e dove sparsero il loro sangue. Tutta la Famiglia Saveriana Carismastica era riunita in un cuor solo.

Le sorelle Olga, Lucia e Bernardetta hanno detto “sì” alla chiamata di Dio: “È vero, sono state assassinate, nessuno però ha mai pensato alla vendetta, ma a vincere il male con il bene. Lo testimonia la Cappella della Pace e della Misericordia, ‘nata’ sul luogo dove furono assassinate. Questa cappella è divenuta oggi per i Burundesi un luogo di preghiera, meditazione, pace e perdono”.

Mercoledì 08 settembre 2021 si è svolta un’attività di beneficenza nella prigione centrale di Mpimba-Bujumbura. Sono state donate venti scatole di sapone, duecento chilogrammi di riso per i prigionieri e sessanta chilogrammi di farina per i bambini che vivono in prigione con le loro madri.

La giornata si è conclusa con la preghiera dei vespri e la lode al Signore per questo prezioso dono fatto alla Chiesa di Kamenge.

Nella Cappella della Pace e della Misericordia si trova una cassetta delle offerte per i poveri. Queste offerte sono donate dai cristiani allo scopo di dare continuità alle opere di amore che Olga, Lucia e Bernardetta portavano avanti nella loro consacrazione missionaria. Ora sono i Laici Saveriani a continuare queste opere di carità a favore dei malati, dei centri per disabili, dei carcerati, ecc. utilizzando in gran parte queste offerte.

Un luogo di tenebre dove è stato sparso il sangue degli innocenti è divenuto uno spazio di speranza, meditazione e adorazione. Un luogo di lacrime è divenuto uno spazio di lode. Lo spirito di vendetta si è trasformato in spirito di pace e di perdono. (I confratelli del Burundi)

On Sunday, September 5^th, 2021, the parish community in Kamenge has remembered the seventh anniversary of the murder of the three Xaverian Sisters Missionaries of Mary: Olga Raschietti, Lucia Pulici and Bernardetta Boggian. During all Eucharistic celebrations at the St Guido M. Conforti Parish and its various chapels, the Church in Kamenge has prayed for these women who heralded God’s Reign in the region of the Great Lakes and, particularly, in Burundi. The celebrations were prepared together with the lay Xaverians.

Tuesday, September 7^th, 2021, has been dedicated to a silent Eucharistic adoration and ended with a Mass. The celebrations of the day took place in the Peace and Mercy Chapel, which was created in the same house where the three martyrs used to live and work and where they shed their blood. The entire Xaverian Charismatic Family has gathered together, united heart and soul.

Sisters Olga, Lucia and Bernardetta answered their “Yes!” to God’s call. “It is true, they were murdered. However, nobody has ever thought of taking revenge; instead, people have thought of overcoming evil with good. This is what the Peace and Mercy Chapel bears witness to. This chapel ‘was born’ in the place where they were slain. Today, this chapel has become for the Burundians a place of prayer, meditation, peace and pardon”.

On Wednesday, September 8^th, 2021, a charitable activity was held in the central prison of Mpimba-Bujumbura. Twenty boxes of soap and two hundred kilos of rice were donated to the inmates, and sixty kilos of flour to the children that live in prison with their mothers.

The day ended with the evening prayer, praising the Lord for this precious gift to the Church in Kamenge.

In the Peace and Mercy Chapel there is a poor box where Christians place their alms with the intention of giving continuity to the works of mercy that Olga, Lucia and Bernardetta were carrying out as part of their missionary consecration. Now it is the lay Xaverians who use most of the alms to continue those works of mercy in favour of the sick, of the centres for the disable, of the prisoners, etc.

Thus, a place of darkness, where innocent blood was shed, has become a space of hope, meditation and adoration. A place of tears has become a space of praise. The spirit of revenge has changed into spirit of peace and forgiveness. (The Xaverian confreres from Burundi)
