A Bukavu, nella RDC, 40 anni fa, il 22 settembre 1983, i confratelli Gabriel Basuzwa e Joseph Musafiri Ruhandira emisero la loro prima professione religiosa e missionaria, iniziando così una nuova tappa e dando slancio a numerose vocazioni missionarie e religiose saveriane in Africa.

Erano presenti l'Arcivescovo di Bukavu, Mons. Mulindwa, il Superiore Generale dei Missionari Saveriani, p. Gabriele Ferrari, il Superiore regionale, p. Simone Vavassori, il maestro dei novizi, p. Giuseppe Veniero, p. Pacifico Fellini e tanti altri compagni di vocazione.

Citando solamente alcuni dei nomi dei nostri confratelli, desideriamo ringraziare di cuore tutti coloro che, vicini e lontani, hanno contribuito a far sì che le vocazioni missionarie e religiose venissero scoperte e fiorissero sempre più nel continente africano.

Oggi desideriamo incoraggiare i giovani confratelli africani ad impegnarsi con gioia e totalità nella vita missionaria ad gentes, nella consacrazione, consapevoli della responsabilità che spetta all'Africa e all'Asia di continuare il cammino già tracciato da san Guido Maria Conforti, anche di fronte alla diminuzione delle vocazioni in altri continenti.

Il Signore conceda alla nostra Famiglia, consacrata alla missione ad gentes, la gioia di far conoscere e amare nostro Signore Gesù Cristo nel mondo oggi. (Gabriel Basuzwa sx e Joseph Musafiri Ruhandira sx)

Bukavu, RDC, 40 years ago, on September 22, 1983, Fr. Gabriel Basuzwa s.x. and Fr. Joseph Musafiri Ruhandira s.x. made their first religious and missionary profession, starting a new stage and boosting numerous Xaverian missionary religious vocations in Africa.

Present were the Archbishop of Bukavu Mons. Mulindwa, the Superior General of the Xaverian Missionaries Fr. Gabriele Ferrari, the Regional Superior Fr. Simone Vavassori, the Master of Novices Fr. Giuseppe Veniero, Fr. Pacifico Fellini, and many other companions who shared the same vocation.

By naming just some of our confreres, we wish to express our heartfelt thanks to all those who, near and far away, have contributed to the discovery and flourishing of missionary and religious vocations in Africa.

Today we wish to encourage our young African confreres to joyfully and wholeheartedly commit themselves to a life consecrated to the mission ad gentes, aware of the responsibility entrusted to Africa and Asia to continue the journey started by Saint Guido Maria Conforti, even in the midst of a decreasing number of vocations in other continents.
