12 MARZO 1622 – CANONIZZAZIONE DI SAN FRANCESCO SAVERIO, “MODELLO E PATRONO DEI MISSIONARI SAVERIANI”

Il nostro confratello p. Juan Antonio Flores Osuna, in preparazione alla celebrazione dell’anniversario di canonizzazione di San Francesco Xavier (12 marzo 1622), condivide “una delle esperienze più significative della mia vita”. Scrive tra l’altro, nella sua riflessione, p. Juan Antonio:
“…Credo che ammirare e godere oggi della santità del nostro Padre e Fondatore, Guido M. Conforti, piuttosto che portarci a mettere da parte la figura e l'esempio di San Francesco Saverio, ci invita a cercarlo, conoscerlo e imparare da lui ad essere apostoli. Il nostro Fondatore, fin da adolescente, lo incontrò leggendo la sua biografia e ne rimase impressionato per sempre, tanto che Saverio divenne il modello della sua vita missionaria.
Per essere Saveriani, questo è un passo che siamo chiamati a compiere: incontrare Francesco Saverio e conoscerlo a fondo per seguire le sue orme di apostolo e discepolo di Gesù Cristo, che anche lui conobbe davanti a un crocifisso durante gli esercizi spirituali che cambiarono la sua vita.
Desidero con tutto il cuore che un giorno tutti nella Famiglia Carismatica Saveriana possano vivere, in qualche modo, questo incontro con San Francesco Saverio, in modo che i poveri, gli abbandonati, i deboli, coloro che non conoscono Cristo... possano trovare in ciascuno di noi - come lo trovarono in San Francesco Saverio - il loro migliore amico, il loro generoso aiuto e il miglior fedele che parli loro di Gesù Cristo e faccia loro conoscere l'amore di Dio…”.

MARCH 12TH, 1622 – CANONIZATION OF ST FRANCIS XAVIER, “MODEL AND PATRON SAINT OF THE XAVERIAN MISSIONARIES”
In preparation for the celebration of the anniversary of St Francis Xavier’s canonization (March 12th, 1622), our confrere Fr. Juan Antonio Flores Osuna shares “one of the most meaningful experiences of my life.” Among other things, Fr. Juan Antonio writes in his reflection:
“I believe that the fact of admiring and appreciating the holiness of our Father and Founder, Guido M. Conforti, rather than leading us to set aside the figure and example of St. Francis Xavier, should invite us to seek him out, get to know him, and learn from him how to be apostles. Our Founder, as a teenager, encountered him through the reading of his biography and was so impressed that Xavier became the model for his missionary life.
One step we are called to take in order to be Xaverians is to meet Francis Xavier and know him deeply so as to follow in his step as apostle and disciple of Jesus Christ, whom he too came to know in front of a crucifix during the spiritual exercises that changed his life.
I wholeheartedly hope that one day everyone in the Xaverian Charismatic Family will be able to experience, in some way, the encounter with St Francis Xavier, so that the poor, the abandoned, the weak, those who do not know Christ... may find in each of us – as they found in St Francis Xavier – their best friend, their generous helper and the best faithful who speaks to them about Jesus Christ and makes them know the love of God...”
