“L’Africa ha bisogno di essere amata” (Vittorio Faccin) e “Il mio posto è nella missione” (Giovanni Didonè) sono alcuni titoli e sottotitoli dei due agili e brevi opuscoli, elaborati da p. Giuseppe Dovigo sx (membro della comunità di Vicenza, Italia) quando ancora lavorava come formatore nella comunità di Filosofia di Bukavu - Vamaro RDC. Il pregio di questi due pieghevoli è quello di presentare in una decina di paginette, in modo attraente, autentico e piacevole, il cuore dei due nuovi beati vicentini ai giovani studenti Saveriani in formazione. Lo scopo, afferma l’autore, era di aiutare i giovani a cogliere e accogliere lo spirito missionario dei due confratelli nella loro donazione al popolo congolese.
Scrive p. Dovigo: “Fratel Vittorio Faccin è un missionario di grande spessore spirituale nella sua consacrazione missionaria come fratello. Non chiede il ministero ordinato, ma si fa eucaristia per essere offerta al Signore per coloro che non lo conoscono. Vive l'amore del prossimo nel suo agire, nel suo modo di giudicare costruttivo e di pace, nel donarsi. Con la sua vita grida al mondo che l'Africa deve essere amata, non sfruttata. Padre Giovanni Didonè è un uomo lanciato in avanti, sempre più in là. Nell'entusiasmo giovanile ama la sua vita di missionario perché bella. Si sposta da un luogo all'altro come un atleta, con l'energia di uno scalatore sulle montagne, con la competenza di un pilota sulle strade impossibili del Congo, con l'esperienza di un marinaio sul lago Tanganika... È il missionario che non si abitua mai ad essere prete e che non perde mai il suo entusiasmo.
I due profili (non potrà mancare in futuro quello di p. Carrara) vogliono essere un piccolo contributo per accendere il desiderio di conoscere e amare di più i due nuovi beati”.

MEN OF THE FIRST PROCLAMATION: MARTYRS BROTHER VITTORIO FACCIN S.X. and FATHER GIOVANNI DIDONÈ S.X.
"Africa needs to be loved" (Vittorio Faccin) and "My place is in the mission" (Giovanni Didonè) are some of the titles and subtitles found in the two easy-to-read and brief booklets Fr. Giuseppe Dovigo s.x. (member of the community of Vicenza, Italy) prepared when he was still working as an educator in the philosophy community in Bukavu – Vamaro, DRC. The value of these two booklets is that they, in about ten pages, present in an attractive, authentic, and pleasant way the heart of the two new Vicentino Blessed to the Xaverian students in formation. Their original purpose, says the author, was to help the youth perceive and welcome the missionary spirit of the two confreres who donated their lives to the Congolese people.
Fr. Dovigo writes: "In his missionary consecration as a religious brother, Brother Vittorio Faccin is a missionary of great spiritual depth. He does not ask for ordained ministry but makes himself a Eucharist offered to the Lord for those who do not know Him. He lives the love of neighbor in his actions, constructive judging, peacemaking, and self-giving. By his own life, he cried out to the world that Africa is to be loved, not exploited. Father Giovanni Didonè was a man who was forward-driven and always moving beyond. In his youthful enthusiasm, he loves his life as a missionary because it is beautiful. He moves from place to place like an athlete, with the energy of a climber on the mountains, with the competence of a car racer on the incredible roads of Congo, with the skill of a sailor on Lake Tanganyika... He is the missionary for whom being a priest never becomes a routine and a missionary who never loses his enthusiasm.
These two biographical sketches (one on Fr. Carrara will surely become available in the future) are a small contribution; they aim to ignite the desire to know and love the two new blessed more."
