Padre Bonané Chokola ci scrive: «All’interno delle celebrazioni per i 20 anni di presenza saveriana in Mozambico, dal 14 al 21 agosto i missionari saveriani (insieme alle suore della “Santa Famiglia di Helmet) hanno fatto i loro esercizi spirituali annuali nella città di Nampula. Predicati da un prete missionario claretiano di nazionalità indiana, gli esercizi hanno avuto come tema: “Con Maria: essere dei missionari, religiosi e discepoli di Gesù”. Gli esercizi sono stati coronati dall’Eucaristia celebrata il 20/8 nella cappella di San Francesco Saverio che si trova nell’isola di Mozambico. È un luogo sacro per noi in quanto in questa cappella, tra settembre 1541 e febbraio 1542, il Saverio ha esercitato il suo ministero presso i malati della sua nave che si dirigeva verso l’India. Benedetto sia Dio che ci ha dato la grazia di vivere questi eventi in questi luoghi sacri».

Fr. Bonané Chokola writes: "Within the context of the Celebrations (Aug, 14 — 21) for the 20 Years of Service of the Xaverians in Mozambique (together with the Sisters of the Sacred Family of Helmet) we held our week of Annual Spiritual Retreat in the city of Nampula. The week was led by a Claretian Missionary Father, from India. The theme was: "Te be Missionaries, Religious and Disciples of Jesus with Mary." At the end, on Aug. 20th we crowned the week with an Eucharistic Celebration in the Chapel of St. Francis Xavier in the island of Mozambique. We consider it a sacred place, because, between September 1541 and February 1542, it was there where St. Francis Xavier ministered to the various persons who, while traveling in the same boat with him on their way to India, had fallen sick. We bless God, who gave us the grace to live these precious days in these sacred places.
