Nella notte tra il 14 e il 15 marzo, la città di Beira e i suoi dintorni sono stati fortemente colpiti dal tifone “Idai” che ha provocato molti danni umani e materiali. Decine di persone avrebbero perso la vita (si ipotizza circa 1.000 morti). Circa 90% delle case e degli edifici sono stati distrutti o danneggiati; tutto è allagato; le strade sono inaccessibili, l’elettricità è interrotta (anche le telecomunicazioni lo erano, ma poi sono state ristabilite). I soccorsi, piano piano, si stanno attivando.

Delle quattro parrocchie gestite dai Saveriani, solo quella di Dondo è stata colpita. I confratelli di Dondo stanno bene anche se provati da questa tragedia. I danni materiali sono notevoli. Le case saveriane di Dondo e di Inhamizwa (futura casa per la formazione, ndr) hanno avuto vari danni.

During the night between March 14^th and 15^th -  2019, the city of Beira and surrounding areas were heavily hit by the powerful typhoon ‘Idai’.  Many were the human and physical damages. Many persons (over a thousand, it is said) lost their lives.    90% of houses and buildings were destroyed or damaged; roads are inaccessible; electricity interrupted (also telecommunications, though now are restored).  Now assistance is slowly being offered.

Of the four parishes served by the Xaverians, only the one of Dondo was hit. The Confreres of Dondo are well, even if heavily tried by the tragedy. The material damages are numerous.  The Xsverian Houses of Dondo and of Inhamizwa (future House of Formation) were variously damaged.
