“PARMA NEGLI ANNI”.  È programmato per venerdì 7 novembre 2025, a Parma,  alle ore 16, il Trentesimo Pomeriggio Culturale Confortiano. Organizzato dagli Amici del Cinquenovembre presso il Centro Studi Confortiani Saveriani ed in sinergia con la Diocesi di Parma, avrà luogo nell’Auditorium Cesare Bonicelli del Centro Pastorale Diocesano in Viale Solferino 25.

Oltre alla consegna ai presenti del quaderno “Parma negli Anni 29” sul 1924, verranno affrontati temi riguardanti l’anno 1925, ai tempi di mons. Conforti.

Tratteggiato il volto di Parma civile e sociale in quell’anno, dagli oratori Luisella Brunazzi Menoni - Valentino Sani - don Umberto Cocconi  -  Ubaldo Delsante moderatore, si commenterà il pensiero missionario del Conforti, basandosi sul ruolo che egli attribuiva alla Madonna, protettrice e sostegno del Missionario, nel contesto del Congresso Mariano svoltosi dal 17 al 23 maggio nella Chiesa della Steccata e conclusosi con l’imponente Incoronazione della statua della Madonna di Fontanellato, nel Duomo cittadino.

Questa Incoronazione rispecchia due sentimenti presenti nella popolazione parmense di allora: -  rivivere il motto patronale mariano dipinto attorno alla statua di Maria, posta sul frontale del palazzo del Governatore in piazza Garibaldi (che suona così: “Hostis turbetur quia Parmam Virgo tuetur”);  -  riparare con una grandiosa manifestazione cittadina al gesto compiuto due anni prima a Fontanellato da mano maligna con furto della corona dorata della Vergine del Rosario, il 16 agosto 1923.

Affidati agli accennati relatori, vi sono poi  altri temi riguardanti il 1925, qui indicati sommariamente: - mons. Conforti in giro per l’Italia con l’Unione Missionaria del Clero, da lui presieduta e arricchita da tre Udienze Pontificie;  -  l’anno giubilare, con i nostri della Casa Madre di allora pellegrini a Roma assieme a varie centinaia di parmigiani, ricevuti dal Papa e visitatori della Esposizione Missionaria, ove sono presenti “pezzi” del nostro Museo Cinese …;  -  il ritorno di p. Popoli dalla Cina in Casa Madre con relativa accademia di accoglienza;  - le vacanze sull’Appennino al Perlaro, realizzandovi il primo film sx ”Nel Nido degli Aquilotti”; - lezioni in casa di Esperanto e  l’apertura della casa a Poggio San Marcello.  C’è di che divertirsi …! “PARMA NEGLI ANNI.” The 13^th Confortian Cultural Afternoon is scheduled for Friday, November 7^th, 2025, at 4:00 p.m., in Parma. The event, which is organised by Amici del 5 Novembre (November 5^th Friends) at the Centro Studi Confortiani Saveriani in collaboration with the Diocese of Parma, will be held in Auditorium Cesare Bonicelli of Centro Pastorale Diocesano, Via Solferino 25.

Apart from giving the attendees the booklet “Parma negli Anni 29” on the 1924, the meeting will discuss topics related to the year 1925, a significant period in the life of Msgr. Conforti.

A panel of speakers formed by Luisella Brunazzi Menoni, Valentino Sani and Fr. Umberto Cocconi, and chaired by Ubaldo Delsante, will illustrate the social milieu of Parma in that year. Subsequently, based on the role of protector and support of missionaries that Conforti assigned to the Virgin Mary, they will comment on Conforti’s missionary thinking in the context of the Marian Congress held at the Steccata Church (Parma)  from May 17^th to 23^rd. The conclusion of the Congress was held in the city’s Cathedral with a solemn Crowning of the statue of Madonna di Fontanellato.

That Crowing reflects two sentiments were widespread among the population of Parma at that time: First, the desire to re-experience the Marian patronal motto painted around the statue of Mary which stands on the façade of the Governatore Palace in Piazza Garibaldi. (The motto reads: Hostis turbetur quia Parmam Virgo tuetur – The enemy is troubled because the Virgin protects Parma). Second, the will to carry out a great demonstration in order to atone as a city for the evil gesture carried out two years earlier, on August 16^th, 1923, when the gilded crown of the Virgin of Rosary was stolen.

The above mentioned speakers are also in charge of discussing other topics related to the year 1925 which are briefly listed here: a) Msgr. Conforti’s travels through Italy with the Missionary Union of the Clergy, which he presided and led to three Audiences with the Pope. b) the jubilee year and the participation of the Xaverians of the Mother House in the pilgrimages to Rome together with hundreds of Parmesans who met with the Pope and visited the Missionary Exhibition that included artefacts from the Chinese Museum of the Xaverians. c) Fr. Popoli’s return from China to the Mother House where he was welcomed with a “gala” (academia). d) The holidays spent in Perlaro on the Apennine, where the first Xaverian film – Nel Nido degli Aquilotti – was shot; e) Esperanto lessons in the house and the opening of a Xaverian community in Poggio San Marcello (Ancona, Italy).
