Il bilancio delle vittime del super tifone Rai che ha colpito il Sud delle Filippine (Leyte, Bohol, Cebu, Negros, Cagayan de Oro, Surigao e alcune province di Mindanao) è salito ad almeno 375 vittime e 500 feriti, con 56 persone ancora disperse e diverse città e province centrali alle prese con comunicazioni interrotte e interruzioni di corrente e che sono senza cibo e acqua. Si teme che il bilancio si aggravi, ci sono villaggi ancora irraggiungibili e privi di comunicazioni. Le famiglie dei nostri confratelli filippini, pp. Patrick Santiañez Salazar sx e Vivinio Matugas Buhawe Jr. sx, i cui luoghi di nascita si trovano nella zona particolarmente colpita dal tifone - dopo vari giorni di isolamento - stanno bene.  Alcune strutture della famiglia di p. Vivinio (Baranggay Bayabas, Danao City, Cebu) hanno subito leggeri danni.   

Super typhoon RAI hit the Southern Philippines (Leyte, Bohol, Cebu, Negros, Cagayan de Oro, Surigao and some provinces in Mindanao) taking a heavy toll, now up to 375 dead, 500 injured and 56 people missing. Various cities and provinces are struggling to restore communications and electricity as they also experience lack of food and clean water. There are concerns that the toll may grow heavier since many villages cannot yet be reached and remain without communications. The families of our Filipino confreres, Fr. Patrick Santiañez Salazar s.x. and Vivinio Matugas Buhawe Jr. s.x., who live in the areas hit by the typhoon, remained isolated for several days. But they are fine. Some structures in the house of Fr. Vivinio’s family (in Baranggay Bayabas, Danao City, Cebu) have sustained minor damages.
