L’ agenzia di informazione (https://www.asianews.it ) promossa dai missionari del Pime, il Pontificio Istituto Missioni Estere, pubblica un articolo dal titolo “Faustino Tissot e la sua eredità in Cina oggi” in riferimento all’ agile biografia scritta l’anno scorso dal nostro confratello p. Gabriele Ferrari con la preziosa raccolta di materiale documentale fatta dal responsabile del https://centro-documentazione.saveriani.org/ p. Enzo Oliviero Verzeletti. Il libro di p. Gabriele Ferrari, “Contentissimo di essere in Cina”, ripercorre la storia del vescovo di Zhengzhou, Henan, Cina, il missionario Saveriano, Mons. Faustino Tissot (1901-1991), ultimo predecessore di uno dei tre vescovi da poco ordinati nella Repubblica popolare cinese. Un esempio straordinario di coraggio e fedeltà al Vangelo nelle carceri comuniste che San Paolo VI lodò per l'amore che mantenne sempre vivo anche nell'esilio. Con la recente ordinazione di mons. Wang Yuesheng, infatti, la diocesi di Zhengzhou è tornata ad avere un vescovo dopo più di settant’anni.
L’articolo conclude riportando testualmente un intero paragrafo di p. Gabriele Ferrari:
“Così con una apparente sconfitta, che in realtà fu la gloriosa conclusione del suo episcopato cinese, monsignor Tissot fu espulso da quella terra che aveva amato e che continuerà ad amare fino alla fine della vita, la terra che alla fine era la patria del gregge affidatogli in modo solenne nel 1946. Fu cacciato di notte, come un cane, derubato di tutto. Non gli consegnarono né le vesti, né la croce pettorale, né l’anello. Arrivò al ponte di Luo Wu, al confine con Hong-Kong con una povera veste cinese e un paio di pantofole. Era il 1° novembre del 1953”.

PIME, ASIA NEWS: THE BOOK CONTENTISSIMO DI ESSERE IN CINA AND A SEEMING “DEFEAT” – THE DIOCESE OF ZHENGZHOU, HENAN, CHINA
The news agency sponsored by the PIME missionaries (www.asianews.it) published an article titled “Faustino Tissot e la sua eredità in Cina oggi” (Faustino Tissot and his legacy in today’s China), a follow-up to the delightful biography written last year by our confrere Fr. Gabriele Ferrari and based on a precious collection of documents carried out by the director of https://centro-documentazione.saveriani.org/, Fr. Enzo Oliviero Verzelletti. Fr. Gabriele Ferrari’s book Contentissimo di essere in Cina (Very Happy to Be in China) traces the history of Xaverian missionary Msgr. Faustino Tissot (1901-1991), Bishop of Zhengzhou, Henan, China, and last predecessor of one of the three bishops who have been recently ordained in the P.R. of China. He was an extraordinary example of courage and loyalty to the Gospel while being kept in communist prisons. St Paul VI praised him for the love he kept alive always, even during his exile. Only with the recent ordination of Msgr. Wang Yuesheng, after seventy years, the diocese of Zhengzhou has once again a bishop.

“Thus, with a seeming defeat, which was actually a glorious conclusion to his Chinese ministry as bishop, Msgr. Tissot was expelled from that land which he had loved and which he would keep loving till the end of his life – the land that, all considered, was the homeland of the flock solemnly entrusted to him in 1946. He was chased away at night, like a dog, and robbed of everything. He was not given his robes, nor his pectoral cross, nor his ring. He arrived to Luowu bridge, at the border with Hong Kong, with a poor Chinese outfit and a pair of slippers. It was Novermber 1st, 1953.”
