Il Congresso Missionario Americano ha accolto 36 Paesi di tutte le Americhe dal 19 al 24 novembre 2024, a Ponce, Porto Rico. Sia l'Eucaristia di apertura che quella di chiusura del Congresso hanno riunito più di 12.000 persone.

Il CAM6 ha riflettuto sul tema “Evangelizzatori con lo Spirito fino agli estremi confini della terra”, ispirato al motto “America, nella forza dello Spirito, testimoni di Cristo”. L'incontro ha riunito circa 1400 missionari provenienti da tutto il continente americano, dei quali 62 dal Brasile. I Missionari Saveriani erano rappresentati dai pp. José Luis Castillo Aguirre, Roberto Carlos Mendoza Silva, Rafael López Villaseñor, Stefano Raschietti e il vescovo Paolo Andreolli.

Il CAM6 si è configurato alla luce della riflessione missiologica sinodale, lavorando su tre temi centrali: 1. Spinti da Cristo Gesù;  2. Testimoni di Cristo; 3. Fino ai confini della terra.  

Al termine del Congresso, la nazione del Brasile è stata scelta per ospitare il CAM7 (Congresso Missionario Americano), che si terrà nel 2029. La Chiesa brasiliana si assume la responsabilità di ospitare questo importante incontro nel prossimo turno, continuando così l’impegno di organizzazione e animazione missionaria delle Chiese del continente (Rafael López Villaseñor).

The American Missionary Congress brought together 36 countries from across the Americas from November 19^th to 24^th, 2024, in Ponce, Puerto Rico. Both the opening and closing Eucharistic celebration of the Congress gathered more than 12,000 people.

CAM6 reflected on the theme “Evangelizers with Spirit to the Ends of the Earth”, which was inspired by the motto “America, with the Power of the Spirit, Witnesses to Christ.” The event gathered about 1400 missionaries from all over the American continent, among whom were 62 delegates from Brazil. The Xaverian Missionaries were represented by Frs. José Luis Castillo Aguirre, Roberto Carlos Mendoza Silva, Rafael López Villaseñor, Stefano Raschietti and Bishop Paolo Andreolli.

The missiological reflection carried out by CAM6 has adopted a synodal form around three central themes: 1. Moved by the Lord Jesus; 2. Witnesses of Christ; 3. To the ends of the earth.

At the end of the Congress, Brazil was chosen as the host country of CAM7, which will take place in 2029. By taking on the responsibility to host this important meeting next time, the Brazilian Church will continue the effort to organize and spread missionary awareness among the Churches in the continent.
