Mercoledì 02 luglio 2025 è stato pubblicato il Messaggio di Leone XIV per la X Giornata Mondiale di Preghiera per la cura del Creato sul tema “Semi di Pace e di Speranza”.

Scrive papa Leone XIV: “…In diverse parti del mondo è ormai evidente che la nostra terra sta cadendo in rovina. Ovunque l’ingiustizia, la violazione del diritto internazionale e dei diritti dei popoli, le diseguaglianze e l’avidità da cui scaturiscono producono deforestazione, inquinamento, perdita di biodiversità. Aumentano in intensità e frequenza fenomeni naturali estremi causati dal cambiamento climatico indotto da attività antropiche (cfr Esort. ap. Laudate Deum, 5), senza considerare gli effetti a medio e lungo termine della devastazione umana ed ecologica portata dai conflitti armati…

…Sembra che manchi ancora la consapevolezza che distruggere la natura non colpisce tutti nello stesso modo: calpestare la giustizia e la pace significa colpire maggiormente i più poveri, gli emarginati, gli esclusi. È emblematica in tale ambito la sofferenza delle comunità indigene…”

On Wednesday, July 2^nd, 2025, Pope Leo XIV’s Message for the 10^th World Day of Prayer for the Care of Creation was released. Theme of the message: “Seeds of Peace and Hope.”

Pope Leo writes: “…in various parts of the world that our earth is being ravaged. On all sides, injustice, violations of international law and the rights of peoples, grave inequalities and the greed that fuels them are spawning deforestation, pollution and the loss of biodiversity. Extreme natural phenomena caused by climate changes provoked by human activity are growing in intensity and frequency (cf. Laudato Deum, 5), to say nothing of the medium and long-term effects of the human and ecological devastation being wrought by armed conflicts.

As yet, we seem incapable of recognizing that the destruction of nature does not affect everyone in the same way. When justice and peace are trampled underfoot, those who are most hurt are the poor, the marginalized and the excluded. The suffering of indigenous communities is emblematic in this regard.”
