È con gioia che vorremmo dire grazie ai nostri fratelli Saveriani. Grazie mille per l’invito a condividere con voi questa giornata di festa che abbiamo iniziato con il ritiro e la meditazione-preghiera personale, seguito dall’Eucaristia dove vari di noi hanno potuto comunicare con fiducia la propria riflessione. È seguito il pranzo prolungato ai tempi supplementari. Molte erano le cose da raccontarci. È stata una bellissima giornata, gioiosa, divertente e fraterna, vissuta nello spirito di famiglia voluto dai nostri fondatori e fondatrice. Il tema suggerito da p. Cesare Da Silva ha mostrato la bellezza e la verità della “seconda chiamata” o della “terza chiamata” o “quarta”… nel cammino di ciascuno. Certo, a volte scomode, impegnative, sfidanti, ma come dice il Signore risorto: “Impossibile agli uomini ma non a Dio! Perché tutto è possibile a Dio”. La memoria, poi, di alcune testimonianze di missionari Saveriani sul tema della “seconda chiamata”, prese dai Profili Saveriani (In Memoriam) e lette durante la riflessione, hanno contribuito a cogliere ancor più profondamente la dimensione storica ed incarnata delle varie “chiamate” di Dio nella nostra vita.

Sabato 30 novembre, in Viale Vaticano, eravamo una trentina. Questa volta la più “giovane” era Rosetta Mancini mmx, con i suoi 93 anni da poco compiuti. Nell’Eucaristia, Rosetta ci ha parlato di avere nel cuore un grande desiderio: poter “ripartire” e ritornare nel suo amato Burundi.

We are happy to thank our Xaverian brothers. Thank you very much for inviting us to share this feast with you. It began with a retreat, followed by time of meditation and personal prayer, and a Eucharistic celebration during which many of us could share spontaneously their own reflections. Then we had lunch. It was prolonged, with extra time as many were the things we chatted about. It was a very beautiful day, full of joy, merrymaking and fraternity in that family spirit so dear to our founders. Fr. Cesare Da Silva’s meditation highlighted the beauty and truth of the “second calling” or the “third calling” or even “the fourth one” in the personal journey of each one. Certainly, such callings at times are not easy; they are demanding and challenging, but, as the Risen Lord says, “With man this is impossible, but not with God; all things are possible with God.” Then, on the theme of the “second calling,” the witness of some Xaverian missionaries drawn from Profili Saveriani and read during the reflection, contributed to a deeper understanding of the historical and incarnated dimension of the various “callings” of God in our life.

On Saturday, November 30^th, we were more than thirty in Viale Vaticano. This time, the “youngest” among us was Rosetta Mancini mmx, who just celebrated her 93^rd birthday. During the Eucharist, Rosetta talked to us about the great wish she has in her heart: to be able to “leave again” and return to her beloved Burundi.
